Actually...we are not related. However, I owe my life to him. Although I don't like talking about it, about 35 years ago I was participating in the Big 33 (Ohio vs. Pennsylvania) High School All Star game.

I was a 6-1 190 lb RB with 4.45 speed heading to Ohio State on a full ride. Midway through the second quarter, Sam (while playing for the PA team) hit me shoulder first around the neck area. It was a legal hit.

Without getting into details, I never played in college, but have gone onto a successful insurance career.

Sam and I rarely talk about that hit, but he knows, that deep down, I don't blame him for it...and in fact am thankful for it.
