Why is the NAIC even going through the exercise, when we all know that HHS will get what they want in the end.....low paid agents

HHS Keeping "Close Eye" On NAIC As It Works On Health Law's Broker Fee Provision.

CQ (6/16, Norman, Subscription Publication) reports that in addition to members of Congress, the Department of Health and Human Services is "keeping a close eye" on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as it "tries to figure out the role of insurance brokers" under the new healthcare system. "Steve Larsen of HHS told members of Congress at a hearing late Wednesday afternoon that the agency is 'monitoring' the work of the NAIC as it studies data on the impact of the healthcare law on broker commissions" but he did not disclose "any further steps HHS might take." The body of state regulators is in the process of "deciding whether to endorse a House measure that would change a medical payout provision in the law that brokers say has devastated their business."

At least NY gets it:

New York Health Insurance Exchange Bill Preserves Agents

"Insurance producers play an indispensable role in helping individuals and small business customers to navigate the complex landscape of health insurance with its many plans and options," said Christopher A. Brassard, chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents and Broker of New York (IIABNY). "Small businesses and individuals simply do not have the expertise or the time to select the best insurance plan, so they rely heavily on insurance producers to help them."

HHS is a run away train. This whole idea of everyone playing nice makes me want to puke.

By the time they get this hammered out, if they ever do, there won't be any carriers or agents left to promote Obamacrap 2.0.

don't get too excited. This was just a bill being introduced, in the Senate. The Assembly is where the real wacko's are.

I'm really fed up with the way this country is run -from both the public and private sectors. No one gives a dam about the middle class, the most important class. It's about time for a revolution to run the entire Congress out of Washington and disband both major parties as useless to the future of this country. The middle class needs major representation. Without a strong middle class, this country will fall and the rich will no longer exist. This country is overloaded with self-centered egotistical bastards who can't see past their own nose.

"BIG BROTHER" HHS is now publicly trashing health insurers whom it deems have enacted rate increases which they feel are excessive.

This poor company gets called-out for a relatively meager 12% rate increase in Pennsylvania last month.

Link: Health insurer charging unreasonable rate increases

HHS can squeal like a pig, but Obamacare apparently gives them no authority (thank goodness) to affect the premiums. Apparently, Sebelius doesn't like this particular company, because 12% premium increases are commonplace.
