It sounds to me like the plan is to implement the Medicare fee schedule across the board. If that happens most if not all facilities will close because the rembursement rate is to low to cover the overhead of so many small facilities.Are you saying that health care will be rationed?
With lower reimbursement rates larger regional specialized and highly utilized facilities will be forced into existence. It is simple economics.
Capacity will shrink but demand will not (regardless of the nonsense sense that the health care will keep people healthy).
Rationing will not happen immediately but as the budget becomes even more constrained 80 year olds with hip replacements will become a thing of the past. Who will the Donkey’s blame then? The rich of course for not paying their fair share or for bailing out of the system. Breast cancer treatment at age 85 will be a thing of the past. Advanced diagnostic testing - the line is over there.
Politics is about today and bummer sticker slogans and that is a shame.
