It sounds to me like the plan is to implement the Medicare fee schedule across the board. If that happens most if not all facilities will close because the rembursement rate is to low to cover the overhead of so many small facilities.

With lower reimbursement rates larger regional specialized and highly utilized facilities will be forced into existence. It is simple economics.

Capacity will shrink but demand will not (regardless of the nonsense sense that the health care will keep people healthy).

Rationing will not happen immediately but as the budget becomes even more constrained 80 year olds with hip replacements will become a thing of the past. Who will the Donkey’s blame then? The rich of course for not paying their fair share or for bailing out of the system. Breast cancer treatment at age 85 will be a thing of the past. Advanced diagnostic testing - the line is over there.

Politics is about today and bummer sticker slogans and that is a shame.

Rationing, per se, is not necessarily a bad thing. It may impose some fiscal discipline that is sorely lacking.

Show me a text book that said my wife had more than a 20% chance? What is the cut off? 19%? BTW she is 7 years in remission. Her chances were not good and she still needs a Pet or gallium scan or CT and blood work every 6 months. Too much? After all she is just a mother and does not work and does not contibute taxes and she is taking more than her fair share.

Glad she had 20% chance or someone would have pulled the acturarial plug.

Is it 19% and 40 years old or 49% and 80 years old.

Are we going to force abortions on mothers with down syndrome kids too? After they are a burden to society because they don't contibute to the tax base so they are not paying their fair share. Sould society should ram an ice pick into their brain at 3 months?

The end game is this: the eradication of independence. You must keep in mind that these people hate independent thought, belief in God and Libertarianism most of all. They feel that control is necessary to achieve their ends and make no mistake in their minds the end justisfies whatever means they use. We can't afford it for ONE MORE MINUTE...

Of course I only answered that way because both my Grandma's are long since gone... Now if they were alive, then it is full speed ahead on healthcare for Grandma...

Now, let's take that rationale a little further. Le's say it is your "Son", there Moon. I believe that I have heard you speak of your son on here. And we have moved beyond Grandma dying because can't afford this or that re-do on Granny, and we have moved to a point where we are now making other TOUGH decisions... like who gets healthcare and where do we stop.? Reason being, we just don't have enough facilitities or Docs to treat ppl...

But it is OK, right... because we have decided that this is how it is...? You don't mind, do you Moon...? It is all in the interest of what is good for the society.

Of course that is a ridiculous argument, but exactly where do we draw the line...? We have currently drawn it to the vast extreme where we are breating life into dead ppl, but that line could be drawn anywhere that the GOV't says it will be drawn... and when Uncle Sam is deciding, we are all expendible brother. Ask any GI about this and how expendible you are when you are owned by the Gov't.

Bottom line is big changes are coming whether we like it or not. We can only speculate what are the changes and when
it will occur. I do believe the whole heath insurance industry will see great changes in the next few years, not in our favor of course. But I also believe there will be great opportunities for those agents that have the foresight to change with the time. The dinasausers will die off.

I have already completely changed my game plan. Not sure if its the right move or not at this time but sales have been kicking butt. I'm now focusing on individual supplement plans Med supp, accident,CI,DI ,FE. & cancer plans. Cancer plans are selling like hotcakes right now.
