United Healthcare just announced their 6-1-23 rates for med-supps for plans June 1st, 2010 to now. Rate increase of 4.5% unless you live in area 2. It's a 7.1% increase. Plans F and N up 5.9%-8.5%. People won't like it but I doubt hardly any would change.

pretty sad to increase in such a crap economy, looks like more business for me to write !!

Moving an UHC med Supp in Florida most likely won’t happen.
That 70 year old person who bought that plan G at 65 still pays what a new 65 year old would pay today. There won’t be savings to by switching companies.

What is UHC doing that other carriers are not?

My zip code in the panhandle is now an area 4. I wonder if they will offer the UHIC product in FL someday.
What we have currently is UHIC. What is coming is UHICA. Same plan medically, but no value added services. Lower cost and different discount structure in states that have discounts. Fl only has discount for autodraft. The UHC medsup trainings are hinting around when it will start. They already have in NC.

The discount structure might be difficult in FL as the state does not like discounts on any insurance.

What does the economy have to do with it? Should a company take a loss (less profit) because of the economy? Besides, a 4.5% rate increase isn’t bad compared to what a lot of companies do annually.

Good luck replacing UHC Med Supps in Florida. Especially those that have been on the books a few years or more.

I meant to say UHICA. FL is a tough state to get a new product approved in. I don't think it will be available in 2023.

Right and if they want to downshift to plan N they will get 65 rate at UHC so that would be a even harder replacement to justify.

I moved 200+ to UHICA when they brought it to TX. Incredible rates.

At this point the only push back I get is "AARP kills babies" and things like that.

One of my super conservative clients called me last week, bitching because his buddy has UHC with a free gym membership and why didn't I tell him about it and blah, blah, blah. Once he finally ran out of steam, I asked if I was allowed to speak.

"I can get you that. After you join AARP."
He laughed hysterically and said "You get me. Thanks for the explanation. Not a chance in hell am I joining AARP". NEXT.
