UHC, They Are Releasing the News Monday....possibly Today

Steer the rich plans away from brokers and to the exchange by paying $0 on gold and platinum plans. If the carrier does end up writing one of those plans they save a few $$ by not paying a commission.

I've done the comparison of Gold/Platinum copay plans vs Silver HSA for more clients than I can count, it always comes out with Silver HSA winning when the MOOP is reached (and certainly for healthy people) and for those in higher tax brackets there is a cost savings that borders on the ridiculous (40-50%).

who at UHC would have the brilliant idea of doing this two WEEKS into OER?? is someone there smoking crack?? they couldn't have thought of this weeks ago? months ago?

they're going to lose out BIG time- they're already losing the trust of thousands of companies and agents and in the end will lose much more money by screwing people over than by keeping their normal commission rate in the marketplace. The agency I work for, and many others are already removing UHC from their portfolio entirely- including ancillaries, short term, and everything else. What a terrible way to show how incompetent and unstable you are as a company. I for one will never promote UHC or it's products again either, neither will thousands. I think it is important for people to write to the company or call them and let them know our concerns. They're setting a bad example for insurance carriers as well.

I would have never expected this action from United Healthcare of all companies and they get away with it by having separate companies. Isn't there an advance notice they're required to give to change commissions this way and again WHY in the middle of OER?? is it THIS dire to the company to do this? come on UHC--if you don't reconsider this or change it, it will be one of the worst mistakes you could make..

This is going to be a game-changer, the #1 carrier for Brokers and Call Centers due to offering the highest commission and longest advances/loans, that goes away - everything is going to change, Google PPC costs, WBE costs drop, lead costs go down, be interesting to see what happens.

Interesting point Mark. We will see.

Thankfully, we have only EPO plans in our area for UHC. First year for that structure and it is easy to steer clients away from this new slim network issue to BCBS with their WIDE open network. That paired with Coventry's nightmare on Elm St, 2015 for so many and it is easy to predict a less stressful 2016 customer service year.

Does anyone know what Florida Blue pays CGAs?

Just FYI in case you were not aware (and for others who many not), Florida Blue is captive and will only appoint to those with a Florida resident license. They have staff which checks DOI appointments for agents regularly and if they do will cancel contracts.

Isn't NC the same way? I believe they do appoint brokers but must be NC resident
