United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Today??

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

Here BX stomps everyone into the dirt on HSA price. They're over 100$ cheaper on basically every deductible level, before you let them underwrite the policy.

Blue Cross in Fl kills everyone on HSA rates, Copay plans not so much because they have rich benefits (250 MRI copay/75 XRay copay/Free blood work).

But I hate that they don't show in any quote engine, you can not really be independent and sell blue cross (they will shop you), stupid ass GA heirachy, 4-8 weeks UW timeframe.....garbage

Benefit updates to UnitedHealthOne plans
effective September 23, 2010

UnitedHealthOne personal health plans (excluding Short Term and Stat Plans) with effective dates of September 23, 2010 or later will have the following additional benefits:

  • Preventive care coverage: no deductible, coinsurance, copays or waiting period (for covered in-network care)
  • No aggregate lifetime dollar maximum.
  • Prescription drugs - any annual dollar limit will be removed.
  • Outpatient spine and back - any annual dollar limit will be removed.
  • Mental disorders and substance abuse - any lifetime or annual dollar limit will be removed.
    • Outpatient expenses will be considered the same as outpatient expenses for medical disorders.
    • No change for plans that do not cover mental disorders and substance abuse (e.g. Saver plans without a state variation).
  • Children under age 19 (on plans with a primary insured age 19 or older).
    • Children under age 19 will have no preexisting conditions exclusions.
    • As required on a state-by-state basis, children under age 19 will not be declined on or after September 23, 2010, based on medical history. We continue to await further guidance and clarification on this topic.
Updates to E-Store quoting software will be made in the coming weeks. Printed materials will soon be accompanied by an insert that explains the changes.

We are also removing the $500 deductible level on all plans as of 9/23, and E-Store will no longer quote this level. Any application received with a $500 deductible will be automatically processed as a $1,000 deductible instead. Paper applications reflecting the removal of the $500 deductible will be made as soon as practical.

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

My rep contacted me on Monday and let me know that all the plans will be compliant. The marketing material will not be updated. The rate increase will not hit until 1-1-10.

They are looking to have a huge 4th quarter.

Right now they are the only carrier I have to write in the IFP market.

I think GR/UHC will be a huge player in the Individual market in the future. The have the money and the technology.

The MLR could mess them up because I know their current block is less than 70% loss ratio.

.

They're already a "huge player" in the individual market.

Do you mean you think they become even bigger or maybe even the biggest player?

ABC,

So, if I write a family today with UHC they will still lock the rates for one year? I am assuming that new plans begining 1-1-10 will have a large rate increase.

12 month rate lock still applies from what I've been told.

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

Long conversation with GR/UHC today. They expect to have the site benefit summary in compliance by months end, but say the plans they are writing now are compliant in spite of what the site illustrates.

They also said they believe they did not have to comply until 1/1/11 but decided to go ahead and upgrade now in a show of good faith.

When I asked about kids, like almost everyone else they are non-committal. No riders on kids, no child only.

As to the max rate up, they don't know yet. Or at least they are not saying . . .

They didn't tell me anything on how the risk will be charged but did say they will not reject any child on a family application.

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

Notice folks that not until the government came along did G/R finally drop their annual plan max for Rx drugs. That was a very limited benefit ($3k) that would not cover one month's worth of some serious cancer drugs. They have operated like this for years - decades - on their own. Nothing has changed with the mentality of this company, and now they are forcing people to wait a month or so for the next available effective date. And oh please hope you don't develop issues with your reproductive organs in the first 6 months = zero coverage, notta.

Who could ever sell this stuff in good conscience? Some of you are worse than your uneducated, uninformed clients - all you are looking at is DEDUCTIBLE vs. QUOTED PREMIUM.

Shame, shame, shame.

Look at TX for example, Cigna/Aetna/BX/UHC all had a 3-5k annual limit on rx. It wasn't just UHC.

Shame, shame, shame.

So are you now Pro-HealthReform, JBage007? I admit that there are some good parts...such as what you pointed out above.
