United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Today??

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

GR/UHC policies offered in GA have never had an Rx cap.

And yes, I am informed, educated and conscientious.

That would be ONLY because the GA Ins. Comm. did not allow it!

That company pulled that crap in every state where it could get away with it.

Plus, they have always had the most ridiculous 6 month waiting periods IN THE INDUSTRY.

Other companies voluntarily provided better benefits than the minimum mandated. Golden Rule has ALWAYS put the policyholder LAST.

ALWAYS.

And Allen - I agree there are some good things about the bill but one of the biggest positive things is that agents will now be prohibited from selling "junk" policies
;)

Re: United Heath One Plans Will Comply with Reform, Effective Tod

Assurant is pushing their new "junk" policies...you can still sell an indemnity plan. It is not insurance, but pays you cash for specific procedures. They also promise "the strong commissions you are used to."

Not that I would sell Assurant, but it is out there. Had a client ask me about it yesterday. A State Farm agent was pushing it trying to get them to dump Blue Cross.

As for UHC, I almost always added the RX option to the health policies. I dont know of any states where the rx buy up option was not available. I could be wrong, but have not heard of any.

GA is not a FACT state. One of the few, if not only state, with a filed policy.

ridiculous 6 month waiting periods

Maybe in other states, but not here.

State Farm agents selling health insurance is but yet another great example of why we need some kind of reform, but that's another story.

As for the most misnamed company in the history of health insurance, here is their current general brochure.

Here it is, post reform, and those bozos are STILL instituting a 6 month waiting period for the following:
  • hernia
  • inner ear disorders
  • varicose veins
  • tonsils, adenoids
  • any disorder of the reproductive organs

In addition, they are still applying an "ordinarily reason person" look back to determine pre-x - this is THE SINGLE BIGGEST REASON WHY 1st YEAR CLAIMS ARE DENIED.

A $3,000 cap is provided for mental/nervous disorders (gone in one day if you need it).

And my new favorite - making people wait a MINIMUM of 30 DAYS to have coverage activated. I guess that's better than making people pay for "full coverage" and only covering them for accidents for the first 15 days - but it still stinks to high heaven.

These last 3 provisions are included in the GA plans as well.

Sorry - can't salute anyone "proud" to sell this mickey mouse company. Too many other high qualify plans out there from respectable carriers.
