United Insurance Group & Encino Insurance Group

I worked for UIG about 2 years ago. You have to assign commissions & only get about half of what the insurance companies pay. They had good product training, but field training wasn't so great.

Thanks! I think I'll avoid them.

Yes I have dealt with both of them..............what are you trying to find out with them.....

Encino claims to have an exclusive door opener--some kind of drug discount through the patient advocacy program, whatever that is. According to their literature, you get appointments with half the people you call. You make a little on this and you try to sell FE. It is unclear whether there is a cost upfront for leads or if the agent just calls from a list. Also, how well does this program really work?
As to contracts, there is an agency contract but it appears that agents also contract directly with the carriers. If you pick 100% on the agency contract, what contracts do you really get with the carriers, Mutual of Omaha and Oxford Life?
Do they really release you if you ask them to?
What are they like to work with?
What is UIG's deal? Their website is not very informative.
Thanks

I got an email from UIG last week. I called just for the heck of it. Sounds to me that they are still "churning & burning" through agents. I really dislike the assigning of commissions. They told me that you work out of your home instead of out of their office.

If you are not in Texas he won't recruit you.......

To my knowledge he only recruits local agents..........

Regarding Encino Insurance Group, I applied and interviewed with them but was currently employed and told the Mgr. that I would call when I quit my job. I called him back in approximately 1-2 months to see about becoming an agent for his company, and in the meantime I posted a thread on this forum requesting info about Encino Insurance Group from anyone who may have worked for them or had any information about them.

When I contacted the Mgr. again to see about going to work for him(and I am already licensed) he seemed upset that I posted a thread requesting information about them. He said he is surprised that I want to work for them since I am skeptical (or something to that affect). I emailed him back that I am not skeptical, but trying to gather as much information as I can to make an informed decision. He never called me back to come work for his office. I was very perplexed and surprised to get that type of reaction.

In my opinion, that type of response sends up Red Flags. Why would anyone be upset about a new hire researching their company or organization unless they have something to hide?:nah:

Some agencies feel if you are skeptical or less than 100% committed you will end up being unteachable or may become a cancer that spreads to other agents in the office.
