Untapped Market? I Think!

I'm currently contracted with a very well known (across the country) insurance company. But I got a call last week & went for two interviews with another company that provides the same type of products, but in a different "market."

I've been told that the area I live in is untapped and the office here is just starting off and the manager wants to grow the territory down here. I've only been in insurance for 6 mos, and the company I currently work with has flooded the field. It's tough to make a go of it when you don't know anyone, not originally from here.

Anywho, anyone out there who is a "veteran," does it sound like a good deal to give this other company a try? I like the idea of untapped rather than saturated. Thanks!!!

Rather vague post here, so we really need more details to even begin to venture a guess.

What insurance company are you with now?
What company are you talking to now?
What is this "untapped market" they are speaking about?

P.S. I have doubts that any one company has "flooded" the market so much that there are no customers out there for you, but working with only one company in a limited territory does limit your options.

Okay, how should I investigate? I mean, right now I just have this dude's word on it, I will check the website (tried before, computer probs), but other than that, how is can I find out if there are any other offices with this same company around here?

On a personal note, any advice on just starting in the insurance industry? I relocated to a new state so I had no job and thought I'd take a stab at this, it's frustrating and I feel I could do so much better "back home."

Currently with Aflac, looking at Penn Senior Solutions. And trust me, it is saturated with Aflac agents. The market is the senior market.

Who is the new company? You want answers, post the company. Someone here will have had experience with about anyone you can come up with.

Good Trianing If Thats What You Need. I Wouldnt Stay There More Than 6 Months. Once You Know What To Do Go Indy.

I think I posted the reply wrong, it merged with my other note. Anyways, currently with Aflac, looking at Penn Life Senior Solutions, market is 65+.

What does indy mean? Again, have mercy on me, I'm new here. They're looking to hire me for a manager position. I've got some training from Aflac, but I'm curious to see where this will take me.

The Manger Thing Is What They Tell Everyone. The Senior Market Is A Good Market But It Certainly Not "untapped" There Products Are Not The Most Competitive. Dont Listen To The Manager Thing It Is Bs. Find Out About The Support You Will Get, Number Of Leads To Each Sale You Make Ect... Indy Means Independent You Can Carry Any Company And Offer What Is Best For The Client.

Can you work for two insurance companies at the same time? I've got my contract that I need to read through for the one, but I don't want to cancel anything because I'd like to keep my contract "alive" so I can collect on renewals.

Not If You Are Captive. I Learned This The Hard Way. I Worked For A Company For 3 Years Built Renewals And Had To Leave Due To High Rate Increases In There Products. I Was Captive And Lost All My Renewals Because It Was A 20 Year Vesting. I Then Started All Over As A Indy Agent. Senior Solutions/penn-life Is 15 Years To Vest I Would Not Build Anything If Im Not Vested. Get Trained Learn To Prospect And Go Indy..
