Yes, vaharleyguy is an old email logon that I used. I no longer have my Harley though.

Here's an update for those who donated. The men wanted to thank everybody for your gift and I know for a fact that it was helpful.
It is very cold and rainy here in Virginia but I hope that they are a bit warmer with the new sleeping bags. I am waiting for their tents to get here so I can take them down to the campsite but shipping has been pretty slow. I also tarps for them to put over the tents to help keep their things dry, as well as inexpensive solar flashlights and a nicer metal handled hatchet; the wooden one broke.
I still have about $150.00 left and I am going to buy some non-perishable groceries as they need them.
The local newspaper has contacted me about doing a article on the homeless here in Waynesboro and about you pitching in to help. I am not sure but I think the reporter heard it from someone in our church however it will be best not to do it because of the reporter trying to track down the men, and getting them run off.

Why would you order tents that they needed yesterday when you could of went up to walmart or kmart and got them a good deal on a tent and had them with a roof over their heads right away. And what are the chances of getting a better deal on tents on the net vs real life. Sorry for thinking.......out loud and all.........sorry!

Also, what was my moronic comment ... I never quite understood which of my post caused such a disturbance ... was it my $20 dollar comment to Al?

The tents are here and will be delivered today which is good because it is supposed to snow tomorrow. I did speak briefly to the newspaper reporter when she called again, without giving too much information, and I mentioned the donations from this forum. The article will be in the Waynesboro Va. newspaper on Sunday at www.newsvirginian.com

Update: I have approximately $100.00 left over and I am going to seek these people out to help them. For those that donated, is that o.k.? They live about 10 miles from me.

I just wanted to give a quick update on the homeless guys here in Waynesboro that some of you on the forum pitched in and helped.
I found out today that the 29.5 inches of snow that we had here around Christmas time destroyed the tent poles to the new tents that were purchased for them.
The good news is that one of the guys, the one who I figured would have the least chance to make it, has cleaned himself up, cut his hair, and has actually found a part-time job. He has also found an apartment and is living on his own. He had on new boots and clothes that were apparantly Christmas gifts. he looked really nice and appeared to be in really great spirits.
