Veterans Coverage?

Thanks for all the info guys. That helped a lot. That gives me enough info to briefly try and overcome the objection.

I know with cold calling to just move on and look for the yeses. I got unlimited data and probably 30,000 people that aren't on the DNC that fit my age/income parameters. I'm not running out of prospects anytime soon. Plus I have 150,000 to door knock/direct mail :)

On a side note somebody from UHL is cold calling too. Had a few ppl ask if I was with them. Said they already received a call today.

You mean u don't headbutt, choke and slap your clients? :D
I don't know if u were referencing my earlier post about "FIGHTING" my clients, but I didn't literally mean I fight them.

San Antonio is FILLED w/ Vets...I've learned to ignore most of them and for the smart ones, ADD to their VA benefits ;)

There are a lot of idiots out there, that is for sure.

Sometimes it is just depressing watching newer guys come on here and make the same mistake time after time. I made them myself and sometimes I still do. Fortunately I learned, but when anyone tries to tell them different, they still think they are going to reinvent the wheel.

I sell a lot more insurance when I just make vague noises of agreement when a prospect starts talking non-sense than when I try to correct them.

Here is what we get for free:

Burial at sea was a Navy tradition of yore, but it is still available for veterans who wish for it. Burial at sea services are performed while the vessel is on official duty, so it is impossible for family members to be present. Following the burial at sea, the ship's commanding officer will notify the surviving family members the date, time, latitude, and longitude at which the burial took place.

I'm going to play a little devil's advocate here. Hoosier, because you are new, don't be afraid to take a minute to ask the person you've called for a little help. If you want to understand what you're running up against, then just ask.

When they tell you they are covered by the VA or anything like that, just get excited and say, "That's great that I've called you then, could you help me out a minute? I've had several people tell me this, and I'm just wondering what kind of benefits your policy has, it sounds really good!

Something like that. Let them tell you what they have, or at least "think" they have. Learn what you're up against. And of course, do some research on it.

San Antonio here myself. In my personal experience I help fellow vets a lot with the VA, as many have been misinformed from someone at one point or another. Sometimes when it come down to changing a brother's mind, it's a trust issue and they would rather it came from someone that's been there and done that and someone they truly believe has their best interest in mind. Like I said though, just my personal experience. Pull string go boom, Fallujah 2005

Ditto. I tell them my wife and I are going in the ground at the National Cemetery also. As soon as we can decide who is on bottom.:twitchy:

The Vets from my era(Vietnam) are a little less trusting of the VA, for good reason. I usually show them a page from the website. Rarely a problem.

You have to get in the house to do that. Hoosier's problem is he is encountering this resistance on the phone. He can try Todd's suggestion, but he really shouldn't expect much in the way of overcoming this on the phone. Now in person is a different story.

It may be that I play the Vet card on the phone also. Do I get that road block? Yeah. But it is still rarely a problem. The people that want to blow me off would be the same way if they were not Vets. Then they would use the excuse that they do not believe in insurance or the "Old Lady can just sell my truck or tools". Then yeah, on those few, it is Thank you for your service, Later.

On the other hand it may also be that I talk to a lot less people a week than you guys do. I can spend 1/2 an hour or more on the phone with them or mail them a copy of the VA page. Different prospecting methods. That is why you guys are making the big bucks.
