Wal-Mart Scooter-Rider Gets Rated Down to Monumental's Easy Solution

"Confined" would pertain to a facility; hospital, nursing home, assisted living - not a wheelchair.

"Confined to a wheelchair" on an app has nothing to do with the location of the wheelchair, just the inability of the applicant to be mobile without it, wherever they are.

Yes. If the app asks if you are confined to a wheelchair, it means can you NOT get up and walk around if you had to.

If it says have you ever used a wheelchair in the last 2-years, that a completely different question.

A lot of people use them at stores or places where they have to walk or stand a lot but can walk around shorter distances like at home.

RNA, Americo & Forethought all use "confined to a wheelchair". American Continental uses "dependent on a wheelchair" which to me is the same thing. Monumental asks if you have used a wheelchair in the last 2 years and if so is the reason for use expected or did go away which if answered no is the same thing as confined or dependent. Omaha asks if the wheelchair is "required" which again is the same thing.

Different ways of asking the same thing.

I would agree. Is the bottom line here, (although I have gotten many graded or even immediate benefit in the past) are we concluding that almost all companies will be graded or GI?

I don't have a company that will give them immediate coverage in my bag. The new Monumental application now puts those that use it on occasion to move around but not confined in a graded category (ROP).

Not sure the pure logic of this, I know the life expectancy is less, but I also have seen many many live for years confined to a wheelchair, and most are able to do those ADL's.

UHL does not ask specifically about a wheelchair. They do have a under 65 disability question and they ask whether you can feed, dress, bathe etc, ADL's.
