Define good.
I have seen sites that are visually unattractive that convert and others that look really good but don't generate as much business as you would think.
A good website has more elements than just looking good. For example functionality. If a site looks great but it is difficult to navigate or has unclear navigation that may lead to people just leaving the site instead of bothering to look for it.
Another is readability. The content of the site should be easy to read, color of the font to color of the background, font sizes should be set in a way for it to be easy to read and also look good on the site, text should be properly paragraphed.
Also quality control. As in is anything broken, are all of the links working ? If something doesn't work as it should it screams unprofessional.
These are on top of my mind right now, and I am sure I left out some elements but a good website must have functionality, ease of use and readability as elements. Visual is also a great element but sometimes less important than these 3.
P.S. I hope I'm not misunderstood in this thread, I am actually trying to offer advice from a designer point of view and not simply fish for customers.

Everybody's an "expert" -- but they fail to tell you that they only designed one website this year let alone one that converts. You find
- Computer programmers (who are also website designers)
- Computer repair people (who are also website designers)
- Internet marketing people (who are also website designers)
- Hosting companies (who are also website designers)
- Domain companies (who are also website desingers)
- 17 year old nephews and nieces (you guessed it)
Very true. I am sure everyone who does web design professionally, a lot of his customers are people who need their websites redesigned. Why ? Because their sites have been made by the kind of people in the list above. Sure some may actually know what they are doing but that's not always true.
