My website is getting a lot of hits and I assume it is from members of this forum because when I left for vacation 2 days ago I had 240 hits and now it is over 360, 2 days later.

My questions is this:
Could these hits be coming from web browser crawling my site?
How does hits like this, if they are from forum members, affect my page rank, either negatively or positively?

Could some of you website experts give me an idea what I can do to make it easier for the search engines to find?

The link is below:

Thank you!!!

I don't know, but I'd probably be careful about using the word "investments" anywhere if you don't have a securities license. Just a heads up.

I'll throw in my two cents and for the folks whom now better please correct me where I misstate.

Couple Thoughts:
1. In theory, the click throughs that are garnered from this forum can only help your page ranking, while not to a great severity think of it his way. Link To's (sites that have a link to your site) actually help with your indexing as when a bot crawls the web, it indexes the site is is crawling while following the links on that site to another site which it starts to index. So for every site that is linked to your site, it is indexed and followed to your site.

2. Think a search engine must generate one click/hit per page it indexes, but no more.

On thing to clarify is that a clicks/hits can be misleading when reviewing web server stats as one unique user can generate unlimited amount of clicks/hits. In reviewing web stats, Unique Visitors (Based on IP Address) is the best determining factor of the true type of traffic your site is seeing. When reviewing website stats, I like to look at these:

1. Number of Unique Visitors over a certain time frame.
2. Referring Site = Where did each Unique Visitor come from
3. Entry Path = On which page did they enter your site
4. Click Through = Where did they go while the toured your site
5. Exit = On which page did they leave

Depending on the type of Web Stat software is loaded on your server, but one can get crazy with browser type, geographic location, keyword search terms, etc.

Like I mentioned above, a lot of people know more about this then I do so please feel free to chime in.

Unique visitors can't affect any search engine standings, unless the referrer is a search engine results page (SERP). Understanding that... bounce rate does matter, click through rate (CTR) does matter, and the sites that you refer to does matter (outbound links).

Software to use: Google Analytics (on website), AWstats (server side).

The quickest and by far the easiest way to track your traffic and website stats is to apply Google Analytics.

You'll have tons of stats to play with which will also help you identify weak spots around your site. Of course this is only if you apply proper segmentation, filtering, funnels, custom reporting, goal setting, intelligence tracking, keyword traffic, search engine positioning etc...

First I will answer your initial questions:

Could these hits be coming from web browser crawling my site?== Possibly, and Possibly not, I would assume a combination of things.

How does hits like this, if they are from forum members, affect my page rank, either negatively or positively?

Does not effect anything, First you need to understand in simple terms what Page Rank is: Basically its a link analysis algorithm.

Keyword Relevance
Website Speed
Inbound Links with the "Anchor Text" related to the targeted "Keyword Phrase" from Authority Sites

Your site is not structured with any Targeted Keyword Phrases in the Medicare Related Field.

No one, is searching for Medigap4All.

Very, Very thin on any good unique Content, (Some of Your Content is copied from other sites)

Go to Copyscape.com and enter your web address.

Never will rank in the Search engines doing this.

So really the hits I am sure you are receiving are nothing of importance, You should only concern yourself with prospects that Find your site thru your targeted Keyword List.

All the fancy tools and tracking mechanisms will do you no good and means nothing. Its just mindless data.

You are right. I'm sure you can tell but the site is mostly pre-programmed by agentquote.com. Does it appear that it is a site that I can work with?

And what they do once they get there...If your site isn't converting shoppers into buyers (you know your conversion rate best), then you'll need to understand why as you website will become an expensive marketing tool that isn't really a tool at all.

It would be like buying leads that don't answer the phone, email or door when you stop buy.

Great insight from the folks overall.
