Website Hits, How Do They Affect Page Rank?

I'd have to agree with the comment above by Valdet. If you have the ability to alter code in your website, installing Google Analytics is an absolute MUST. Before I learned the value of the google analytics I used the traffic stats from web hosts I had and got all types of data that could be from robots, spiders, etc...

If someone else hosts/manages your site, have them install the code for you (it's easy) and set up an account you have access to. It's also the best way to monitor SEO results if your outsourcing that...

Even without delving deep into its capability, with Google you can tell exactly where your traffic is coming from (on the web and in the world) how they got there, what they did when they were on your site, and a ton of other stuff...there's even a way to look at your actual website and see where visitors are clicking most - you'll be surprised what gets the most clicks, I guarantee it.

You also might find out half your visitors are in Malaysia and India...I doubt your licensed to sell there...

Here's a great tip for anyone already using GA...make sure you apply the filters to exclude your own IP address. That way your own visits to your site won't effect your trends and stats...

...my site seems to be generating a ton of traffic right in my very own backyard, literally...wait that is me.

I agree, I can't see how hits can affect page rank or ranking in the SERPs.

Google isn't going to know about all of your hits.

Page Rank, is not even a Major factor for Solid ranking in todays world anyway.

Most are looking at the Green Toolbar PR, Which is totally not a true measurement of PR.

Second, Google knows every hit on every page. Trust Me on that one.

Go open a Webmaster account on a site thats been around awhile, verify that site, and see if you dont have Complete Data on that site from Google!!!

Your right, Google does not pay attention to web site hits
