Western & Southern Life

Working for them is a mistake. Most of their business is in the Ghetto

This is simply not true. Western & Southern is not a final expense company. They are in the same market as Northwest Mutual and Mass Mutual. Their typical client is the white collar market. If you go with them, they will require you to get your securities license. If that is your forte go for it. As far as they have a system, Yes they do and if you follow it and put in the time and devotion, you will succeed.

I am not promoting them. They tried to hire me a few years ago and I wasn't interested in going captive. Now they will tell you that you can sell for other companies but if you were to look at the commission level they put you on with these companies it is the lowest street level commission.

If you have never worked for them then how do you know that your book of business would not have been in the ghetto? W&S wants to be like NWM but has no clue how to do it. They want you to sell a 5K final expense policy or just an AD&D policy because it is friday and the office needs one more app! Trust me that I know allot more about this company than someone who has interviewed with them or even someone who has been there a year or so.

If that's the case, they're doing a terrible job branding themselves. I always thought they started as a debit company selling low premium small life insurance policies.

I think Western Southern is a lot more middle to lower middle class whereas MM & NWM are more higher end white collar.

Most people at W&S have good intentions including senior leaders but they are so out of touch with the industry that they just go back to the old ways when things get tough and this industry is usually tough. W&S biggest downfall is sales contests that they live and die by and 26 out of 52 you are in a sales contest. Also if it is Friday managers will do anything to get one more app to report to the DVP and they love it when they see tons of apps, premium and retention are not important they need instand gratification every week. They get a high off seeing a large number of apps.

Truth in this post... They want apps plain and simple. They care more about app count than any other thing. I have seen agents sell a lot of apps and never get compensated actual $$$ for them but that rep was a super star from the app count alone. No one cared if they could feed their family or not as long as they had apps every week.

I agree that they have good intentions. I don't know if it is that they are out of touch or just don't have the balls to take the short term negative required to make a long term gain. They brought in an outside consulting firm to try to make changes. When the suggested changes weren't what they wanted to hear they bailed on the consultant and are making their own changes.

I agree. I have been independent for 5 years since I left and I still remember hating 26 weeks of sales contests! Load up the wagons boys! Haha

Evidently Western Southern is always hiring, always contests, and all churn and burn.
