What about his own auto or home insurance carrier?

A lot of Home/Auto Insurers are unable or unwilling to offer Personal Umbrellas these days. Some of them are even locked out of Personal Umbrella new issues right now.
Some Home/Auto insurers only offer up to $2MM
Some of the Home/Auto insurers have terrible FSRs
Some do not offer Extended UM
Some do not write Pers Umbreallas over non drivers
Some do not write over Nonadmitted Insurers
...and those are just a few reasons.
