What Do You Drive?

I needed 4 doors, more interior space and comfort. Don't get me wrong, I love the new 5.0 mustang and boss that I've seen but its not for me right now.
The new fusion does look really nice until I found out it is very slow and the interior again seemed ho hum. All for the same as tested price as my car. I wouldn't mind driving one though

The Fusion hybrid is the one that Ford is betting on as the hybrids sales numbers continue to climb and positioned itself as the leader in MPG.. The Fusion might be behind in some of the categories on the non Hybrid model, but it is gaining some ground in an over crowded sedan market.

Damn good thing we bailed Ford out. Otherwise they would have gone out of business like GM and Chrysler.

Or am I thinking about Tesla?

We bailed out GM and Chrysler, Ford did it there way on credit and wasn't in as bad of shape. Ford was in the talks but never received any government money.

Tesla is a California problem, you can deal with that:D
oh nevermind , your in CA and bankrupt as well..I guess seeing Arnonld slice his knife like he was going to cut the budget had a lot of bearing?:D

The recent numbers have GM paying back over 60% of the money so you can officially say its not Government Motors anymore;)

The big think for me is dependability and longevity of which all North American lack. Lipstick and make up on the int and ext and the same old technology under the hood. If I am going to drop a significant amount of coin on a vehicle I want one that's going to perform the same in 2 years as it does now. Ford, GM and Dodge just dont have it what with vinyl and cheap plastics on the interiors to bad fitting panels and spot welded seams.

Really? I am drving a 2000 Taurus with 120k miles, my dad drove a Saturn to work for 7 years and had 225k before he finally sold it, and it was still running great. This is what most think about the older cars they had problems with back in the 80's and 90's. Some gave up and went elsewhere, it's an image problem and marketing issue they still need to explore to bring people back. They have plenty of strong quality cars along the block of all 3. The quality is there, ask any recent owner, especially Buick owners. When I go back to Flint, MI I still find 94-99 buicks/olds on the road with the 2400 V6 running the heck out of them tell the puke with over 300k miles. I have read articles doing research and found a lot of Honda years having issues with Transmissions, especially the 08 civic model along with cheap body panels and tie rod/suspension issues. Its not all Big 3 is bad and everyone is oh so perfect....Sticking gas pedals is not Toyotas fault either :goofy:

Just traded my wife's '08 GMC Accadia for a 2012 Chevy Equininox on Sat. She wanted to get a smaller vehicle. Fully loaded. Leather,V6, AWD, sunroof, XLT package. Pretty nice vehicle and American made.

Yes, and they have a plant in Spring Hill TN making those.

Got my wife a 2011 equinox last year. Wish I would have went with the V-6.

i drive a 2006 toyota highlander hybrid LTD
it gets up to 30+ in traffic, and 24+ overall
does great 3 point turns, the tranny isn't gears, it's a CVT, so going from drive-reverse-drive you can shift while still rolling, the magnets and CVT = like an electric golf cart
the rear hatch opens overhead so I don't get wet getting stuff from my car box
SUV so high visibility/floor pan and big tires
Its very smooth driving, quiet, vibration free, reliable

I've used in the past civic, j30, gs300, c5 vette (for a couple months). 1st consideration doing FE is gas mileage. After getting the Highlander, 2nd consideration is ability to get beat around over curbs, steep driveways, potholes, etc...i really like the idea of using a hybrid mid-sized suv.

out of all the cars I've owned the highlander is the worst 'drivers car' in terms of handling etc

But it is also the absolute best for not beating you up...it's so smooth..it dosn't even 'shift gears' with the CVT, so it's hard to explain how smooth it is.
I just make it go and worry about making calls and where to turn...i can work all day, day after day, and it keeps me refreshed, it dosn't tire you out, if that makes sence.

my vette and g35 were fun cars, but they beat you up and took more concentration to drive.
