What Do You Drive?

I drive a classic, 1979 Ford F150 and love it. It's not much, but I'm a classic truck nut. Plus I live in a rural area. It's a real conversation starter.

Can I say, we don't do much field sales anymore but when we did some us had VW's and Nissan's new. Warranty and gas is great. But my point here if anyone is looking for a recommendation? I store my one car and we just turned in another so I wanted something cheap BUT still decent and fun to get me back and forth to the office. We mainly drive the wifes car around. SUV...2 kids. Nice ride!

But, I searched all weekend a couple of weeks ago and picked up a 2012 KIA Optima LXS. It's the top of the line version of the EX/LX but holy crap! I shopped 4 dealerships and picked it up for about $30K! You name it...this car has it all. Even the new head lights like Audi. Black. Chrome wheels. And, coming form my SRT8...this is a 4 cyclinder turbo 240 horse so it does have some GREAT get up and go. It gets 24/28 mpg! It does not need or take premium gas either for being a turbo.

They have great incentives right now. Now, I leased it for 2 years and put hardly anything down and my payment is $20 monthly premium sale (lol...thats how I gauge what we buy!). 5 years 60K warranty is the standard also.

K...KIA...where's my endorsement fee!

A buddy has one, very nice car. A lot of bang for the buck.

Never, and I mean never will I drive a Honda, Toyota or any other brand outside of Detroit. I drive a 2000 Taurus to my appointments, leather over 200hp and still gets decent gas mileage. Now, being here in Florida it's less of an issue driving a foreign brand, but I have too many ties to my home state.

By the way, Ford has a great Zmax hatchback car that is going to compete with the Prius and its beats it in almost every category (MPG, HP, and room).

If you're from Detroit I can agree with that. I'm from Indiana. We build Hondas, Toyotas and Subarus here. They affect out economy much more than Ford or Chevy. JD doesn't see it that way but it's a fact.

As far as me buying a Mini which is a German company and "assembled" in England...no ties to the local economy. I would prefer to buy a car that "assembled" in Indiana or Kentucky but I just like a car they don't make here.

Assembled here and profits shipped to retired auto workers in Japan. Yes, they provide much needed jobs and effect the economy in a positive way. If Detroit had there act together from the get go we would be providing those jobs as they have lost many plants over the years. Detroit is coming back, and in a big way. The Flat Rock plant is one of my favorite visits and is where my mustang came from with a long history. Here is a recent article.
Ford To Add 1,200 Workers At Detroit-area Plant

Go Detroit, and Go Tigers!!...there in a hole right now, but hopefully they win tonight!

I have always driven GM for the same reasons. Buy american. Many of my union member clients drive Toyotas and Hondas. If I see a grey Camry I think teacher. I am probably going to join them on my next ride. Japanese or German.
