What is considered to be a good commission rate for health and then for life for a newbie? I live in WI if that helps.

Question: What commission are you making now? (answer to yourself).
A good commission is one that you make consistently and often.
When you can make a commission consistently and often, your commission will go up, perhaps way up.
Don't put the cart before the horse.

I guess I was meaning what is a typical percentage. I gather on the health side 20% is pretty typical but what is typical for life?

You could get 100% + if you want. That's a good commission. But what kind of support do you get? You will have to do ALL of the work, deal with the underwriters, etc... My advice is to find a company that will give you a very competitive commission and will give you a good support network. In the end, you will make more sales.

So it is your site that you are promoting; thanks for the FULL DISCLOSURE. Go to the insurance offers section, and post it there.
No need in getting upset; but when you offer advice, and then claim you found it at your website; that is misleading.
If you hang around awhile you will find that SPAMMERS are on here all the time; which is very annoying.
With 22 years of experience you are bound to be full of some good information, and I look forward to hearing it. I hope this helps........
