So many word press plug-in are present on internet just search and get it. all above are best but the most important is "NO FOLLOW" use this plug-in so that every external link becomes no follow itself, which would be beneficial for you.

I have a wordpress .org & .com site. .org's have the plugins while the .com's don't. My .com site ranks equal and often higer in the serps.

I'm beginning to wonder if all the newfangled seo stuff helps much.

Ditto. Contact Form 7 can't be beat for a WordPress contact form. Most plugins of this quality have to be paid for. You can get pretty creative with all of the options provided - and best of all it's free.

I downloaded Yoast as I read somewhere that it is easy to use for newbys. I guess im taking the term newby to a whole new level, cause I dont know what I am doing...

Yoast will do a lot of the work for you if you let it. Read the tutorials.
