2014 ACA Enrollment Tips (Agents Helping Agents)

How do you handle MAGI if a customer has received unemployment for a portion of the year and worked the other.
The problem arises when the source of the income is asked, if you answer job, then the system will consider you employed and then go through the quagmire of the affordable insurance through work.
Basically, employed a part of the year, now unemployed with unemployment.

what do you guys do with people who make too little for obamacare, but don't want medicaid. the system keeps putting them in medicaid when they want to actually pay for the plan.

Can insurance companies adjust premiums as needed as new months become available for new enrollees, just like many of them have always done? I was wondering if the Feb 1, 2014 effective date we'll soon be quoting will have higher premiums than Jan 1, 2014 effective date.

I ve done a few in sc and grouping never works to split. Have re entered the apps 5 times, but every time get the same error. Blues in sc don t sell family plans, so the few i ve down down there, i have created a new account for each family member.

For the unemployment part of the yr question, this first year, income is based of of projected income for 2014. Therefore all of those people project they will make 105+% FPL in non medicaid expansion state if they want insurance. Or they pay full price

The one I tried to split didn't award the proper subsidy.

Not that I care but I was working with a client last night on a subsidy determination and we were unable to login to her account after the creation step.

I gave up and told her to call the customer service number to find out what was wrong.

She called me back this morning and said that instead of fixing that they did the subsidy determination and enrolled her-when she said she had a broker the csr said 'too late', I've already enrolled you and he wouldn't get paid now anyway.

As I said, I really don't care-she is turning 65 in July so the comp on this plan is probably $100 anyway and I will enroll her in a Medicare plan in June.

But for those of you who are actively working this market, here is another reminder that the administration hates us and will do whatever is possible to exclude agents from the process.
