A couple of forum friends are live on youtube

Well from an indy agent with no interest in agency building or needing help with leads that could make sense.

A majority of agents don't fall into that mold. They need leads done for them. They need a system to replicate and training and support to grow.

Our Facebook group has 3700 agents in it. When they join, I ask them what they need help with. Most of them say leads. Over half say training and support.

Most are not going to get what they need by spreading their contracts around.

There's a reason why the set price DM Lead Programs are tied to an agent putting all their eggs in one basket. It is what it is.

From an IMO perspective, why would I want to train and support agents who throw us an app or two a month? I don't really even pursue the "Hey I want to get my ______ contract through you." Todd can have those guys ;)

From an IMO perspective, Can't argue with the not wanting to train people without getting all of their business. I sure as hell would not. However, seems that agents jump loyalties as much as uplines and IMOs do.

I am surprised that seasoned agents rely on someone else for leads. Prospecting was one of the first skills we were taught.

I think you IMOs have to have a load of patience.

Strong argument to not put all of your contracts under one roof. Also, managers and management charges.

I have 17 contracts, including all of my main carriers, as well as a fixed price DM program with Matt Mungia. I am extremely pleased with this relationship and cannot foresee anything on the horizon that would cause me to want to end it. In fact, my plan is to work this business hard for another 10 to 15 years, and thereafter work it not so hard until I die or retire completely. No reason at this point that I will not still be, at that time, right where I am today with respect to upline.

However, you just never know what may come. I therefore do have four other FE contracts with three different uplines "just in case." I also mail 1000 to 2000 pieces of mail on my own most months to zip codes that I work that are not currently being mailed to on behalf of my fixed price lead program.

If it were ever to become necessary, I could easily ride out a six or twelve month embargo on my other carriers by using the other four I have scattered about. During any given month, I obviously write the majority of my business with one of the 17 carriers I have with Matt (I have not used even close to all 17 but I'm in a pre-appoint state and like a good boy scout, I want to be prepared). I do write some business one or two of the other carriers to prevent getting termed for non-production.

I think it is fair that an IMO offering good support and resources, especially one that really treats you well and respects you as an individual, deserves a good amount of loyalty. I can really not imagine at this time any set of circumstances that would cause me to move away from my current relationship with Matt. At the risk of sounding like a silent recruiter*, I am 100% happy with my situation, and that is why I will stay right where I am and write the majority of my business with carriers I have through him. But at the same time, I sleep much better at night knowing that no one person or organization can disrupt my ability to earn a living. I am a loyal guy - but my first loyalty has to be to myself and my family.

*that is why "stealth" recruiter is better than "silent" recruiter - after all, what does a "silent" recruiter "sound like" if he is in fact "silent"

Makes sense to me.

This stuff all works on paper, but you guys are leaving out the most important element...

The psychology of the agent recruited and how they perceive the opportunity presented to him.

Differing psychologies explain why Lincoln Heritage agents en masse aren't running over to FEX, myself, and other agencies.

Further, assuming that One Life agent production report predominantly consists of free lead agents (may not be the case) at small commission levels, odds are you couldn't persuade a fraction of them over the short-term to your way of thinking, defined as transitioning to a paid-lead program with higher net commissions, even if the agent logically agrees with your supposition.

In short, besides those that are mishires at any organization (10% give or take), agents end up to where they belong.

Most of the Top 500 are on the Broker Side.
