A Day in the Life of a FE Pusher

I used to work the Dixie Hwy, 18th St area of Louisille. They told to be out of there before dark too. I still wasn't going to carry a weapon there. Are you guys planning on having an old fasioned shootout in the streets someday?

If you go on down to 32nd and beyond, make sure you're packin.

I thought it was always legal to open carry. Am I wrong?

Is in Ky. Or used to be anyway.

Don't forget pepper spray for dogs. You don't want to use that 357 on them. Animal cruelty. The 357 is just for people.

You might as well add a pair of pants and underwear. You'll want those when you sit in the cat pee.

I have a friend that lives in Kennasaw, GA. There is an old law on the books there that you can be arrested and fined for NOT carrying a gun if you go into town there.

Maybe that is why I thought Indiana was the same as Kentucky since KY is my native state. Do you mean in Indiana if a guy is going coon hunting and has his .22 in his holster strapped to his waist he is breaking the law if he doesn't have a permit?

I guess if he was on his own property it might fall under our castle doctrine, but unlike in OH or KY where you can open carry anytime, in IN you must have a LTCH (License to Carry Handgun) to carry open or concealed.

Open Carry (Without A Valid Permit/License)
Open Carry is legal in Indiana but you must have a valid Permit/License to Carry to Open Carry. Places as listed in the "Places Off Limits" above apply to those who open carry. When open carrying, be prepared for Police Officers to question you as open carrying firearm gets their attention. See the "RV/Car Carry Without a Permit" section for carrying in a vehicle. From all I hear Open Carry is not common in Indiana.

I can't remember seeing anyone Open Carry a firearm unless they were in transit as a hunter with a long rifle or shotgun. I'm sure it happens but just don't remember seeing it, and I live out in the sticks where rednecks abound. They are as proud of their firearms as their wife and kids. Concealed carry is another thing; most of em are packing here, legal or otherwise.

What's the big deal about it anyway? I've have my Ky CC permit every since it became law here. I've never used it. For what reason would you want to carry a weapon? Concealed or otherwise?

JD I have never carried on my person but I might if I were working the right neighborhood. However, at times on trips I will carry either in my car or in my brief case just in case I should ever encounter a situation that required it.

Here is a situation where I will carry in the future. In the summer of 2005 my family hiked to Benton Falls on Chilhowee Mountain in the Cherokee National Forest. We had several small children along. The following spring (April, 2006) a black bear attacked a family killing a little boy and severely injuring the mother and daughter at that exact spot. I guarantee you the next time I am hiking like that I will carry my pistol in the pocket of my shorts or on my waist under my shirt. My little .40 might or might not kill a bear but would stand a good chance of frightening one off and is better protection than bare hands.
