A Different Take on the Big Check

All I can say is that as an insurance agent that has produced way over the $20,000 (not limited to FE) number monthly for over 10-years, MY opinion is that I would gladly use any presentation tool that helps tell the story of what the coverage will do for them. If I needed a big check, a stack of cash or a donkey to help them visualize what I'm talking about I would use it.

And just to fine tune a bit more, when I say produced I don't include it in the number unless it's issued, paid and I pay income taxes on it. That's the only numbers that are meaningful to me.

I'll throw it out to the agents who have had $50,000+ months (not limited to FE) and to get the voice of experience unless you have produced over $20,000 monthly for at least a decade, please keep your opinions quite and let the producers talk. Would you use visual aids to help present a case?

Damm. It almost seems arrogant to lay it out there like that doesn't it?

And to keep it on topic. Someone that did buy a $5,000 Settlers Bronze policy from me that I actually DID use a Big Check in the presentation several months ago called yesterday and wants to bump it up to $20,000. So my opinion is that visual aids don't reduce persistency but that's just my seat of the pants assumption.

You got that right. But for the best effect, you have to do your best Val Kilmer impression when you say "Say when. "

The old saying a picture is worth a thousand words is true .. Visuals work.. as I said earlier if they didn't there would be only radio ads and no TV. And speaking of TV ads, I guess none of those stories told about all those wonderful products are fictional. They are all real people who actually use the product as presented. There really is a family called the Yardleys that have their living room on the front lawn.

The master of spin. 20k in med supp premium would be what 15 clients at most? As I pointed out to SAI I'm talking in the realm of FE. Unfortunately some of us didn't discover insurance until later in life, probably because they hated traditional agents and wouldn't want to be associated with the likes of those who stoop to lies and fictional stories.

Nice try. I count deposits in my checkbook only. Makes all products equal.

I was just making an exclusive club since you didn't want me in yours.

What lies are we talking about? You don't believe that Settlers will really give them a check when they die?

You are using those numbers to present an argument to a point that no one made. But if that fluff makes you feel better then have at it.

Nonsense is nonsense. In any club.

No, it does not make it equal. You are in the FE forum and supposedly talking FE.

An annuity agent putting $20K a month into his account every month still wouldn't have a clue about selling FE.

By your standards we should listen to him anyway? Again, utter nonsense!!

We should start a new sub forum for guys that don't focus on FE that want to hear how non hard core FE people sell FE.

No offense to the full timers but your marketing would not work for me. I would basically have to not work my med supp business to work dm full time to make it work how you guys do.

I come to this side to pick up on different closings and rebuttals. This I can use in my practice but I cannot use the marketing methods. Too much work for me.

I'm not saying I would ever tell a story about a guy falling out of a box either. I don't feel comfortable telling stories that sound like BS unless I know them to be true.

What do you mean? Donnie wouldn't let me in his exclusive club so I had to make my own.

Can't we all make our own rules about who's opinion counts in our own club?

Honestly, my opinion is that a visual aid doesn't hurt your presentation and won't reduce persistency. I'm kind of hard headed so my opinion probably won't change regardless of who debates it and how much of any product they sell.

I'm not saying it's necessary or that I've even used props myself very often. But they don't hurt and sometimes help.

Does anyone want to see my 24-carrot gold million dollar producer ring that Dignity Memorial gave me for top producing agent in 1999? Oh dang it! I just went and started a whole new exclusive club.

I agree with this.

I also come to the FE forum for the entertainment and the fighting.:)

What would you call this new forum?:err:

Laughable. I never started an exclusive club..I was making the point that I'd rather heed the advice of big producers than those who dabble OR hypothesis about what works.
