American Republic

Re: American Republic...captive?

I applied to work for them here in TX at the captive/career side. They never really firmly told me to get rid of my other appointments, but then, I did not stick around. So maybe it was coming. They kind of danced around the captive issue.

American Republic doesnt sell plan F anymore because thier premiums got to high so they created a new risk pool with Plan J to get thier premiums down. They wont be at 131 for long.

AmRep is in a Tail Spin, circling the toilet bowl, starting to smell like Friday's fish on Monday.

They were a force to pay attention to back in the mid 90's to maybe 2000-2001, but someone in control drove that company into the ditch and walked away from the scene.

I produced a ton for them in Arkansas back in the late 90's, but they pulled out of the state. When I moved to Missouri I contacted Ed S. and took a look at their book in contrast to the rest of the market. I about laughed out loud... not even close in benefit/price for under age health... way out of line for supplements.

One thing I thank them for... every AmRep insured I met... is my client when I give them a 10 min. education.

Weren't they downgraded to a B-?

What is her age? I get $140.45 on a plan J for Georgia

I did fail to mention that this quote is not with American Republic. It's with Loyal American, and just in case you're interested I have Home office contracts available to anyone who needs them and I can give you a 23% on that.

Does anyone know anything about American Republic?
I am a newbie to the industry and have been approached by them.
Any recomendations for a top line Health Insurance Company in IL?

Yes, I do. If you go direct to Am. Rep, you're captive. The product that they have for their captive agents isn't that competitive. I do have a contract with them that is not direct and it is an exclusive product that you can only get through one IMO. It just so happens that I'm an MGA for them and have above street contracts. It is available in IL too.
You can look to HCO (Health Choice One) for other available products in IL. There are several. Oh, and it just so happens I'm an MGA for HCO too! ;)

Thanks!

I also have been approached by United Insurance Group and US Health Group. I sensed it may be best to stay away from these two. Is my intuition correct?
