is there anyone actively writing a lot of Assurity Simplified Issue Whole Life?

Here in Louisiana they seem to have very good rates (as long as you do not have any medical conditions) but look to be extremely strict.

Any input about Assurity SIWL would be appreciated.

I have written 3 of them in 2011. The underwriting is actually very flexible, because there are three Simplified Whole Life Policy tiers (Level, Modified, Graded). If an applicant doesn't qualify for LEVEL benefit, Assurity underwriting will offer Modified, or Graded.

Since I just licensed with them in May 2011, I don't know how efficently, timely or accurately they process/pay claims. That's really the most important trait of any insurance company. But, doing a search for Assurity in this forum before I licensed with them yielded far more positive than negative feedback.

I use their products quite often. Their simplified whole life product is one of the best in the market. It is especially competitive due to the fact that most carriers offer a simplified issued universal life to protect themselves. Obviously, the carrier is able to adjust rates and benefits in the universal life product. So, depending on the client's situation, the Assurity product can be a very good fit. Please feel free to contact me via email to discuss the product features and commission in more detail.

I usually write their fully underwritten term plans.

I wrote a simplified term policy in early December for a 23 year old woman who had bought a house and wanted to insure the mortgage so that her boyfriend or family would not be stuck with it if something happened to her. (How many 23 year olds are that responsible these days?)

I don't know if the simplified UW is different for term vs. WL for the same face.

Assurity relies heavily on the phone interview. This young woman told them that she was tested for a bladder infection and because of that they knocked her down from Select-Plus to just Select. Since there was never a diagnosis we challenged it and they changed the class saving her a few dollars a year. It was not a hassle.

I write 90% of my life cases with Assurity and Ohio National. Assurity gets my younger, clients who don't want to bother with the needle and who don't care about the extra premium. Ohio gets my older clients as they have a sweet-spot for age 55-60 (healthy only.) My impaired risk goes all over the place... I depend on my GA to shop it for me and I follow their suggestion. It's funny how different the carriers are in their risk UW. Pru "likes" smokers, Protective will take bipolar, and Genworth will take just about anyone (table-rated of course!)

To me ON and Assurity are two peas in a pod... both excellent to work with... I sometimes think that they are the same company! Never a problem, good rates, and nice people... both. Genworth? They are an ulcer-in-waiting (another value a GA can bring you if they have an "in" with the UW team.)

Again, this was term not WL so YMMV.

I wrote a simplified issue critical illness policy with them and was quite impressed. They will get more looks for sure for everything.

I use to write them- but stopped- wrote a client that had COPD and taking meds for swelling...

That POS was the worst ever.. thing took like 45 minutes- they were asking him about HBP, what his last reading was.. does his teeth hurt... I couldnt believe it.. on a simplified app???.. there aint even any questions about HBP

I will never put another one of my clients through that crap again
