Becoming a State Farm Agent

SF use to have the pick of the litter when it came to recruiting agents but word about the new contract is beginning to circulate. A lot of top notch people who would have jumped at SF have started looking elsewhere.

My prediction is that in another 10-20 years, if they don't change the contract, that SF will no longer have .

Sounds like every other deal out there now.Especially at the wire houses. Raising the bar on the veterans and the clients to cut costs, and offering nothing in return. Hopefully new options for brokers and clients are created from their mistakes.

As the older agents retire I think SF will reach a point that they have to modify the contract to attrack the talent they need. Unfortunately, there will always be a pool of candidates who will believe the song and dance and not investigate properly the reality.

I made my final NO decision when SF would not let me see the contract that was going to ruin my life without making a commitment, and then going through the first part of the process. Then I could see it... I told him if I can't see it, there must be something to hide, so i'm running for my life. Take the secret contract and shove it!

Wise move....Move on to another "opportunity" that will bear fruit.

SF is going through major internal reorganization.(disorganization) Soon they will start focusing on the agents....

If a company is not willing to show you the contract prior to signing it,,, going only on "trust us" doesnt work anymore. They are struggling recruiting quality people. We'll see how it plays out.

This thread is the most posted/read thread on this forum as was the TICA thread on the NASFA forum.. You can still read the comments.. That alone tells you something..

I can't begin to tell you how financially devastating the decision to become a State Farm agent was for me and my family. I traveled, made bonus, did everything I could to make it work. Doing things the State Farm way cost me my life savings. Plus I will have another decade of working to dig myself out of this hole. I drank the koolaid for too long. At least employees get to keep what they get paid, no expenses.
