Best Route to Take. ...

.......... It takes on average 2-3 weeks for responses. Not everyone you call on is available, then when you do meet them, they put you off, etc. It takes about six weeks from start to finish on any one mailing to realize anything substantial. It is only then that you where you stand investment wise.

......

This is a nugget anybody starting a direct mail campaign should know. It takes a lot of planning to go out 6 weeks, every week.

Great thread!

Thanks,
Jim

Not really. Just order leads every week consistently and it doesn't matter if some come later...

I prefer press one telemarketed leads and this is why.

Last Monday I was tired of working my last batch of 25 that I ordered three weeks prior, so I did the following.

I went to the PHR web site and logged in. I then clicked on order leads and ordered 25. I then went to paypal and paid for them. On Friday at around noon I had 25 fresh new leads siting there. By 2:30 I had called 13 of them. Out of those 13 I was able to contact I scheduled 9 heavily, prequalified appointments for next Wed and Thursday.

No waiting or guessing how many leads were going to be coming in. I also like knowing on Friday afternoon that my next weeks income is just sitting there all planted and waiting to be harvested.

Who needs $10,000 to get started in FE. If you burn through 10K in FE leads and have nothing to show for it, your probably in the wrong business. And in all likelihood should have learned that after about $2,500.

Not tying to be smart or mean, just calling it like it is. If I pay $400.00 for leads I like knowing I am going to get 25 within the next few days and I can't do that with DM.

My point is that a new agent should NOT drop mail every week. Some mailers/zip codes have better results. The idea here is for him to get going and start finding his strong areas as well a niche.

2-5000 piece mail drops every week are expensive and should only be done once the agent has a good grasp of the market, his products, and time management.

Don't drop too poor or too rich of an area.

If you are dropping a saturated area, make sure you get first class postage returns.

And drop 1500+ weekly on autopilot.

It really isn't any more complicated than that.

Selfless Plug Alert: I think I've mentioned this once before, but we have started offering our leads to the Final Expense Agent public. These are the same Press 1 Leads NFL72 is talking about, though he does get them cheaper since he's with us on the career side where we supplement the costs. Check out Final Expense Leads They are exclusive and never resold as B Leads. We do not cross recruit and the lead site is handled completely separate from the IMO side of the business. I do have to say though that if you're looking for leads in an area where I have an agent working for me on the career side, that agent's order will get priority. But it's a big country and we have not run into that so far.

as far as door knocking leads I prefer not to. I don't like driving all over town trying to find someone home. To me its a big waste of time.

I purchased 80 lead connection DM leads from a guy about 3 weeks ago right on this forum. He was getting out of the business and I got them for $400.00.

I have worked them twice and both times made a little money but nothing to write home about. One day I wrote 2 and the other day I wrote 3. That was out of finding 8 people at home. That was door knocking. I do admit I didn't hit my first door until noon, so they weren't full days. But to me door knocking is a crap shoot.

I would much rather schedule 8 to ten heavily qualified appointments over 2 days where I would expect to write between 6 and 8 policies. I can do that with fresh press one leads.

So you wrote 5 out of the 80 leads ? What was the AP ? That's a pretty decent ROI,anybody on this forum would take that.
What about the P1 leads that you can't reach on the phone ? Do yoh NG the lead or DK it ?
I think anybody would much rather heavily qualify on the phone, set them up,knock them down if they could.
Kudos to you. Most complain about not getting an answer,or prospects screening them out with caller ID.
Good work getting it done.
