Best Way to Cancel Geico

Here we go again today. They refused to cancel a policy & we called to follow up w/ another fax number. Now they say they don't accept fax cancellations & they MUST speak w/ the insured. She claims she "couldn't release GEICO's fax number without speaking to the insured." Such unbelievable BS

I called in with a client on Thursday. I let the client handle speaking to the first rep but then they put the "rate specialist" on the phone. She was very nice and started the conversation off by saying "I hear you want to leave us after 7 years" and the went on the ask if rate was the issue and what else can Gieco do. So then she went to start review his policy to offer discounts. At that point I jumped in and said, mrs it seems like you are very sorry that the client is leaving but let me ask after 7 years how many times have you called the client to review his policy and offer him discounts? Instead you waint til he wants to cancel to offer the savings? It doesn't seem like you really care aobut the client, just seems like you get a bonus for every client you stop from canceling. She had nothing else to say but processed the request. Having said all that though, they are good at what they do. My client was getting sucked in to their trap.

This is an interesting approach. Searching for the conference feature on my phone as we speak!

I've conferenced calls plenty of times & took charge of the conversation. The scum bags will just call the insured back as soon as you hang up & try again anyway.

Man I would love to be out at a bar striking up conversation w/ a guy next to me....then in the 1 / 1,000,000,000 chance he mentions he works for GEICO and attempts to save customers...I would just punch him right in the face right there.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get Geico policies canceled for your clients. I used to have their fax number but that doesnt work anymore. Calling in with the client is always a hassle as well since they always tell you that someone else has to call them back. Thanks!

why can't you mail the request to geico?

Had a client today switched auto we faxed the cancellation in to Geico. They called her to review discounts before canceling. I'd suggest a three way call to make sure your client doesn't end up staying.

This gave me a good chuckle. There's a major Geico call center in my city and you constantly run in to folks that work there.

This might be the way to go. Now, getting the correct address to mail to is another issue LOL. Unfortunately, the new client I'm binding tomorrow also is set up on EFT with GEICO, which means she is probably going to have to talk to them either way. Ugh. I hate GEICO.
