Buying or Renting your Leads?

It happens when new agents will sign up without getting all the commission grids in writing first. What seems obvious to agents that have been around the block a few times is not even on the radar of newly licensed greenhorns.

They get told "street" or "100%" or "highest commissions in the industry" and fail to get the the commission grids in print and fail to compare. Happens every day.
New agents sometimes don't ask questions because they don't even know that there's a question to ask. When I first came into FE from a captive situation, I just accepted the commission level I was offered. I had no way of knowing that the non-captive companies had different levels available. I went a couple years under a relatively low level until somebody pitched me a company I was already contracted with, but was offering me a 10% higher comp rate. That was the first moment I realized that I might be able to do better with all my contracts, and started asking that question up front.

That's exactly right. Back in our day there was no easy way to get any info either. When this forum was first online it was a HUGE exchange of information for a lot of us. When I first built my website it was ground breaking stuff. I built it because I was having the exact same conversations over and over with agents who called every day who were in all these bad situations.

I've barely changed my website through the years so today there are a variety of websites with good info and most slicker than mine. You would think with all this info online that is easily searchable that new agents couldn't easily be duped anymore. But it's probably worse today than it's ever been. But I would say that more and more of them wake up pretty quickly.
