Charlotte area YMCA's

I have a client in North Carolina that just informed me that indicated that local Charlotte YMCA's will only take Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 2025. Any local agents in that area heard that?

If you are referring to SilverSneakers I would think that your client is confused about something. Unless BCBS has come out with their own gym membership network like UHC?

On the AARP forum there is currently a lot of talk about that. UHC is dropping all "premium" locations for YMCA's and about 5 or 6 other "premium" gyms, not just premium YMCA locations (no clue how they decide premium). Those folks have started a petition. When I get home (in the middle of a 2 day drive, yesterday through the pouring rain all day - so much fun) I'll scan that discussion and post what has been dropped besides premium locations. I think (I'd have to re-read) that all Houston YMCA's are now considered premium locations too.

My 4 main carriers all use a different fitness vendor. I am fortunate that all the gyms in my area are in network with each vendor. Most will join an Anytime Fitness along with the YMCA so if they are traveling they can use an Anytime Fitness and they seem to be everywhere.

I'm in Charlotte and a YMCA member and no one has ever asked me about my insurance. I also know that Ambetter is offering memberships to YMCA 360 in NC and I haven't heard of CLT branches opting out.
