Children Being Left Off???

Forgive me if this has been discussed. So far whenever I've attempted to complete an enrollment which includes family with children on healthcare.gov, the kids are being left off of the application and are not being used in the subsidy calculation. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? Am I doing something wrong?

We enter every persons info on the app, show the children as being dependents of mom and dad and when it gets to the subsidy calculation it is only using mom and dad (household of two instead of four) and when we get to the plan itself, it is only showing mom and dad to be covered. In one instance, it showed one child potentially getting PeachCare and the other lost in space somewhere.

Any advice?

It seems that all children are being put on medicaid. I think this is a "treatment feature" sort of like ALLI causing discharge

Agreed. Try entering an income that you are certain would not put the children into Medicaid levels and see if the problem persists.

The only problem with that is what happens when they actually do their 2014 taxes and they end up having to pay a portion of the subsidy back? When the income for a family of 4 drops below the 250% level (for states who didn't jump on the Medicaid bandwagon), then the subsidy is only based on a two person household and not the original four person household at time of application. And that decreases the subsidy amount which means they will owe money.

This is FUBAR!

Same thing happen to me. Parents got tax credit 1 child CHIP other child don't qualify. Income 46,000 family of 4

Had the same issue. One child listed as CHIP and the other child not listed anywhere. Funny thing is, when I start telling people their children will be on PeachCare (aka - Medicaid), they say forget it.

Of course, one of the rules for PeachCare in the past was the child had to be uninsured for 6 months before they could qualify. I have no idea if the same rules still apply. If so, that will go over like a ton of bricks.

"Mr. & Mrs. Client, we can get you enrolled in a plan on the Exchange, but you will need to enroll your children in PeachCare. Keep in mind that they will need top stay uninsured for 6 months before you can get them covered."

The next statement from the client is something like, "the government can kiss my arse"

To be clear I was certainly not advocating entering false information. I was trying to help identify the issue and make sure that the "problem" was intentional and the website was working as designed in this case

Have you tried private off exchange plans for the kids with subsidized coverage for the parents?

This is what I have done (off exchange with kids). I think many people are going to be surprised by no coverage. Lady I helped last night did not realize that her policy had removed the child and was only covering her. We had to redo the app and tell her to get the kids covered with NC health choice (at least try).

Did my first on-exchange subsidized Family app this evening. Family of 4 with $39,000 MAGI, which is above the limit for qualifying for family of 4 Illinois expanded Medicaid.

Like the rest of you, the parents are allowed to purchase on-exchange with a cost-sharing Reduced, taxpayer subsidized plan (Yippie!) The 2 sons (ages 14/16) were sentenced to either 1.) Get Medicaid, or 2) Apply for "All-Kids", or 3.) Visit one of the new Community Health Centers created by the Affordable Care Act. (Boo!!!)

The Child-Only off exchange plans in this area average $144 each. Is that the only option available if the parents don't want their boys on a Medicaid program?

If this is a FEATURE of ObamaCare, where can I find the rule that directs what circumstances dictate when children are to not be allowed on their parent's subsidized plan? Anyone know off hand? I'd like to be able to explain WHY this is happening.
