Christmas & New Years

How many when asked if they had first hand knowledge of Trump involvement in any criminal act answered yes?

Sondland. It starts and ends with Sondland. Doesn't mean it will make a difference, as the Republican party has sold its soul to Trump. This isn't about "haters." This is about what's right.

Unless you are talking about Trump himself, as he seems to hate everybody.

No, it means you and I have access to the same testimony. If what you see and hear from the people who work for him doesn't convince what could I possibly say to change your mind? Serious question? What could I say. Trump has clearly, from the testimony thus far, done everything the Democrats are charging him with having done. If you are not convinced by the testimony of those involved, there is nothing anyone can say.

You could just read Sunderland's testimony alone, plot the timeline, and think like a cop instead of a partisan, and that should be all anyone has to say.

But don't post here sounding like some Fox talking head. All the words are out there for anyone with open mind and ears to hear. Nothing I say could add to that or change that fact.

Up to this point, I've tried to approach this conversation with humor, and not really engage. But (I'm probably going to regret it) I feel compelled to jump in here because you've moved it from a generally civil exchange into condescension and insults. But before I get into it, I'm asking you to remember from conversations in other threads that I'm no Trump fan. He may well be guilty. I just don't think it's been proven. The reason I don't think so is because I have an "open mind".

1) "think like a cop" is not supposed to be the tone of congressional hearings. At this point, the committee is supposed to be thinking like a grand jury. The trouble with the process so far is both sides are acting like lawyers, both trying to win their case. A grand jury would be listening for the truth between the two sides. A congressional hearing of any type should be asking questions to determine the truth. I don't see that happening at all here. The fault lies with the voters, IMO. Maybe we need to stop voting for lawyers!

2) The way Schiff has run this so far causes me to question the validity of his case. He's behaving like a prosecutor, but has the power of a judge to allow or disallow testimony, evidence, and lines of questioning. If he would just allow the Republicans to call the witnesses they've requested, for example, it would look less like a railroad job.

3) As I started out to say, you've moved into condescension and insults. People with "an open mind" can clearly come to different understandings. Anybody that's ever served on a jury can attest to that! To accuse Louis or anyone else of not having an open mind because they disagree with you is condescending at best. Saying he's posting "like some Fox talking head" is downright insulting! As if he disagrees with you, so he couldn't possibly be thinking for himself!
This type of behavior is beneath you.

4) I don't actually care if they impeach Trump or not. If he were to be removed from office, then Mike Pence would be president. That could actually be a really good thing! I like Mike! Unfortunately, he's not brilliant on the campaign trail, so he might not last long.

Another reason I don't care, though, is that I've grown generally cynical about politics. At this point in history, the two major parties seem to be just heads and tails on the same bad penny! And the only credible option for a third party seems to be nothing more than a light blend of those two. Impeach him or not. It won't change my life much either way.

Minds will remain unchanged until hearts are moved.

We've moved sharply away from foundational faith in this country, and when we replace God with man this is what we get.
That's it right there. I used to be a pro-life (thus Republican) activist. Got the wool pulled over my eyes by "Religious Right" leaders, who were just Republican operatives trying to meld evangelicals into a voting block. I bought into the lie that changing government would cure cultural/social ills. I know better now.

Mike Pence might just go down with the rest of them too. This (the inquiry) is interesting to say the least.

If it all starts and ends with him, then they should shut the hearing down. By his own admission he has no knowledge of any wrongdoing

Well said, thank you.

If it is just about what is right, they would also be investigating former VP Biden. There is no doubt he did what they claim Trump has done.
