Cold Doors 2020 - Discussion Thread

Again

There was NO ONE there and I was not speeding, I was going a good 25 - 30mph. If that.

It was an empty street with some random ass hidden stop sign he probably put there that day. My guess is that a lot of people miss that one because that's why he was there. My point is that instead of posting the sign large enough to see, a sign warning there is an upcoming stop sign, because they actually want people to stop INSTEAD they place a small hidden sign with a hidden cop ready to entrap people for the sole purpose of boosting city revenue the only way they know how.

I never said he didn't have a reason to pull me over.

I've had a situation similar to what you describe where a person ran through a red light going a good 50mph and almost cost me my life had I not been extra alert that day.

However,

You are inserting random "what if" hypothetical situations that didn't apply AT THAT TIME so I don't see an even comparison.
Thought of you when reading this article... It could have been a lot worse...

The world's strangest driving laws – US edition

Need to line some appointments up.

Debating on whether or not to go out early (when it's likely my MP leads won't be home) but leave delivery notices - because I've got family stuff to do later

I'm also a bit frustrated I didn't close the last few deals from the door knock appointments. I feel like it's more effort to get these door knock appointments (because the avoid the phones the times I called and I have to drive out sometimes more than once) so when I do get in front of them I have more of an expectation that they should buy. I don't know if it's them being weird or me needing refinement on my presentation - maybe both but you can't say the wrong thing to the right person, right?

Yeah, you can. You can have a person who is ready to buy and turn them off completely with the wrong comment or phrase.

Go for the appointment NOW!!! I think the majority that won't talk now are just trying to get rid of you and won't answer the phone/door next time.

Could it be that maybe YOU'RE weird? :err::laugh:

  • Knock on the door.
  • They come to the door.
  • DON'T set an appointment!
  • "Hi, my name is XXXX and I am with XXXX. I'm speaking with all the folks in your area about... (I use, 'cancer, heart attacks, strokes and unplanned deaths). My name is XXXX and your s is? (Using the first Name) I'm trying to catch everyone in the area for just a second or two, do you have a spot we can sit down?" Head down move forward. (Do not look them in the I when you say this, you will loose if you do.)
There is more to it than just the above of course, but that's the way to get in a cold door. There needs to be a very good reason for me to sit an appointment.

Make sure you are smiling when you speak with people. Your face should always be an invitation for people to speak with you. I'm ugly so I have to smile alot. It works.

True.

I'm working on a line to ask them that will combat that though.

Some people really are in the middle of something and have to set an appointment. I've gotten better at closing the time gap and insisting if I come back it will only be later that day or tomorrow.

And yes I'm weird. Aren't we all a little weird??? Some of those people are more weird than me though.
