Cold Doors 2020 - Discussion Thread

you must get a seed card mailed to you that you can laminate and then use to cold knock the names on your list who received the mailer but did not respond

Here is what the card looks like laminated.

March 2020 DK Mailer.JPG

I open the card and laminate the whole thing because I think it makes it look more credible and legitimate for them to see the business reply post mark and also the other side has my name and address.

I always did that with the FE mailers, and for the last six weeks I've been using this strategy but I hadn't actually mailed the cards out. I printed a card of my own from a sample (shown above in the thread) and I was knocking a list I ran off of salesdialers.com (now ProspectBoss?) and changed the script slightly "that little pink card that you may have received in the mail").

When I do have a seed card with my name and address as the recipient on the other side, and they turn the card over, see my name and say that that isn't them, I love it! I smile and say "No, that is me, and you can see from the address that I'm a local guy and live right here in Lehigh Country just like you. See, here's my state insurance license. You're going to love this - where can we sit down real quick?"

The nice thing about this particular mailer is that Trump and the Congress were kind enough to pass the SECURE Act this year, so the card is absolutely 100% true!

Also has some nice fine print at the bottom so when they say "I didn't know anyone was going to contact me" I can at least point to the "fine print" while I say "no problem, you're really going to be happy I came by ... let me show you!"

That's a good idea having that little writing an agent may contact you . Are you saying that to all the door knocks to the cards that didn't respond ? Do they have fe cards that say that at the bottom? Have you noticed a specific color ( pink, yellow or green ) that they recall more than others ? Why didn't you do that exclusively when you were doing fe ? I'm a 90% door knocker . I'm going to try that as I sell med advantage tr round .

So Daytimer you day trading the mkt? I was a professional day trader for 20 yrs . I'm trading silly the past 2 weeks trading up to 15-17 hrs a day with futures.. I've made 3 yrs of income the last 2 weeks as i'm shorting futures in big size on any run. Were going much much lower over the coming months unless the fed starts buying stocks big which could happen

Same here - I did it 2018 as well during the September to December swoon. Most of the time I make more selling insurance, but when the S&P is running $3K to $5K per emini per day or more it is silly for me to do anything else. Trading can be a grind 98% of the time, but when you get this volatility it gets crazy. If everyday were like yesterday I wouldn't do anything else. And I'd retire by the end of the summer lol

But when the S&P goes back to normal it is very tough, imo.

No, I like that it is there in case they give me that objection, but I'm not going to mention it to them otherwise. I do mention it when running FB FE leads because the lead form itself says "Yes, please have an agent licensed by the state contact me." So in those cases my at the door pitch is simply "Hi Mrs Jones, you saw our announcement for the new state regulated final expense programs out there on the internet and like a silly old fool you filled this out and asked to have a licensed agent come out and go over the programs with you ..."

(I do not actually call them a "silly old fool)

Do they have fe cards that say that at the bottom?

This is the first time I've seen any mention of an insurance agent contacting them mentioned anywhere on a DM card but that doesn't mean it isn't out there.

Have you noticed a specific color (pink, yellow or green ) that they recall more than others?

I have not noticed one color being more effective than any other but I do usually wait until I have the physical card in my hand before knocking the door of a responder - I have found having the card they themselves actually filled out is a great at the door ice breaker.

Why didn't you do that exclusively when you were doing fe?

Because I bought into the whole "DM is king and you must be ordering a steady supply of 20 to 30 leads or more each week blah blah blah." It is the one thing I really hold against the marketers and the IMO's etc. It is absolute bullShit, imo. For new leads I've used FB leads since July, but I've not needed nearly as many FB leads because I can start them and stop them and work them thoroughly.

You can't do that with DM. By my estimation I have bought around 2600 DM leads of my own, and of the 2600 I have bought, I still have over 1500 that I have yet to have seen face to face, and some of them I guarantee I haven't knocked even once. When you are getting that many leads a week you get buried in them.

I also have bought several thousand leads from local agents who left the business. So many agents come in and fail because they can't overcome that $750 to $1000/week marketing nut. If you cannot produce out of the gate your screwed.

I talked to a new agent this week. He has $5k to spend on his business that he doesn't need for bills, food, rent, etc. I told him to go buy 100 aged DM for no more than $3/each and to mail 1000 to 1500 final expense mailers using MS Powermail. I told him to knock the aged leads while he waiting for the DM cards to come back in, and that once he gets four or five cards back, he should knock those and knock the list with a laminated card. He can keep the other $4K in the bank for emergencies or to start up to fixed price DM Program in a month or two if he decides to do so or he can buy himself some FB leads or whatever.

But if he finds he can't sell his way out of a paper bag, he'll still have $4K to do something else with.

I'm a 90% door knocker. I'm going to try that as I sell med advantage yr round.

I heard somewhere that you can't door knock cold specifically with a med advantage offer, is that true? I'm sure it is easy enough to come up with a compliant work around, but I do not do Medicare at all so I don't know what that work around would be.

Rushing off to google .... how do I send out my own MP mailers

I looked at lead concepts and they actually have an MP mailer sample hat you can view on their website.

If you are really going gung ho with the MP focus, you really ought to look into the MP program or the Found Money program from insuranceproshop.com I have the found money program, which I believe includes most if not all of the MP program, but you can call down to them and ask to make sure.

So I am now #3 on the annuity production list

Which list?

Because I bought into the whole "DM is king and you must be ordering a steady supply of 20 to 30 leads or more each week blah blah blah." It is the one thing I really hold against the marketers and the IMO's etc. It is absolute bullShit, imo.

But weren't you making so much money with it from your other journal threads?
