So one of the first policies I wrote, I replaced a Columbian and Colonial Penn policy.

Today I get a call from the replaced agent from Columbian. When I called him back, (he pretended to be looking for a policy on my VM), he asked me if it was ok to replace an existing policy that was out of contestability. I told him that would depend and before I could say anything else he launches into a tirade about how much money this client had put into the policy (who cares, she had coverage) and that now I started her a whole new contestibility period (who cares as long as she doesn't off herself or didnt lie).

He says he's contacted the regional manager of Hoosier Life Insurance (seeings how I'm a one man shop, I'm thinking he lied there lol) and that he will be sending a letter to the DOI with my clients signature on it.

I try calling my client and she hangs up on me. I tried calling back and she let me explain a little but then said she's gonna go with this guy.

Thing is, if he does re-replace me, he's either gonna have to lower the face or raise her premiums. That would be a real issue for the DOI, I would think.

Either way, I'm gonna try and talk to my client f2f and see if I can save it. Or at least not get a complaint letter sent to the DOI.

So just a reminder for everyone to prepare their clients for the replaced agents phone call. I'm still new to FE, and honestly didnt realize that the replaced agent would be notified. From now on, I will prep my clients before I leave.

I'm surprised the agent is so aggressive on this one. It's a 2 year old policy...

His was at like 15 months.

But if Columbian had decent rates I would sell them all day long. They pay 212% over 10 years. I picked them up for that 30 yr old GI I needed. My comp on their FE product is 115%, yrs 2-5 13%, 6-10 9% and 2% for life.

In Indiana agent towards agent complains are a joke. In Ky you have to send in a detailed answer even when it's some jerk with hurt feelings, {and wallett}, making the complaint.

Now, if the client complains then Indiana is a bear too.

I had a compliant one time. The DOI sent me a letter explains the complaint, I sent one back and that was the last I ever heard of it. The client blamed me or not canceling her policy. I guess she didnt notice until 2-3 years later. I wrote and told the DOI it wasn't my responsibility to cancel policies. They must have agreed...

Well Newby said sometimes these guys type up letters and have the client sign it. Says they have no idea what they're signing. That's my only concern, other than the lost commission.

luckily, didn't get experience like that...I'm always transparent to my clients and see to that they are satisfied with the service.

Don't sweat this at all... You did not break any law or DOI regulation. Even if that lady wrote a letter everyday for the next year to the Indiana DOI I would bet big money you will hear nothing about it. Welcome to selling FE...

What was the Columbian agents name? Put him on blast, and lets run him out of the business.
