Direct Sales of Life Insurance Increasing

hmmm...I wonder how many Top of the Table agents work door to door?????

Whats a top of the table agent?

Most agents don't want to do this type of prospecting because of timidity and fear, so they look for other EASIER ways to prospect.

Why spend thousands a year on direct mail, websites, leads, dialers, etc etc etc to submit $3k-$5k per week when you can knock doors all day long and submit the same level of premium?

Is knocking on doors sexy? Hell no. BUT IT WORKS.

I bet there isn't a newbie that can start doing what a TOT producer does daily and make it. They all started out doing stuff differently than they currently do. I bet most of them that didn't have a strong network of wealthy people started out with some form of cold calling and worked referrals, etc. from there.

The better question is, how many Top of the Table agents started out working door to door.

How many top producing FAs started their career with Edward Jones going door to door?

The trick is learning how to become a great prospector.

Once you have mastered this, you are never out of a job/without income.

Once you have mastered the art of prospecting, the sky is the limit.

Most agents don't master this and are looking for EASY ways to make a buck.

Speaking of which.....its time for me to pound the pavement!

Preach it brother! Amen!!

Feel like I'm in church.

I think poor prospecting methods lead to poor results.

Is a newbie going to reach TOT status, probably not...but if the newbie thinks like a $40k producer, they have no chance to do better.

To blindly walk neighborhoods in my opinion is a waste of time...there are better ways to spend your time, not to mention i think it comes off as unprofessional...you might as well wash car windows at stop lights and try to sell insurance then...at least that way you know they have cars!!

Will you sell something eventually going door to door...probably, but maybe you would have sold a lot more if you developed a plan first, then execute on the plan.

Your plain wrong, but hey if you feel that way, it WOULD be unprofessional to go and door knock. Leaves more business for others. Your arrogance adds little value to this conversation.

I'm sure someone knows who I am talking about. Who is that guy in New York that is a MetLife agent. He worked door to door inside buildings for years. The guy is like 70 or something now. He turned down a high six figure pension so he can keep selling.

But I guess he's not TOT material and I guess he is unprofessional.

My "managers" at UGA basically told me this when I wouldn't buy into their lead program...nor could I since I didn't have the dough.

I said I'd cold call business to business. One flat out laughed at me - said it didn't work - waste of time.

I wrote $260,000 in placed business within the first 3 months, won a contest to go to Cabo, paid off a car loan then went to Disney.

I'm glad I didn't listen to their advice.
