I received an email from Equitable Life today and they recommended that new business is faxed instead of done through an express phone app. They said it was because of an increased demand during the AEP.

Does this happen every year? Can I fax in an application with a faxed signature or does it have to be a signature that was received face to face or through the mail?

Thanks for your help.

I sent $4000 in AP to equitable the day after they opened the new fe product. After a week they started to work on the cases. After another week they required a phi for each one (very healthy people btw). I called and axed what was up and they told me that tele apps took priority and that they were going to do phi anyway regardless of their underwriting. I inquired about how long the tele app takes and they told me " not long....45 minutes or so...." I told them to rescind the applications and sent them elsewhere. Approved and paid in 3 days. I REALLY like equitable but they don't understand the final expense market.

That's far from the experience I had with equitable. I always opt in for the express app. Takes 15 min. No paperwork required unless replacement is involved (1 page to fax). Issue on the spot. Paid the next day.

Are you still going to do express apps during this period and did you do it last year during this time?
