Family First Life

1) What did you have in mind when you got your license?
I ran my own business as a Jiu Jitsu instructor my entire adult life. The coronavirus changed all that. As you know there are a lot of insurance recruiters that are quite convincing with the idea that there is abundant income to be make in this industry. I was lured in with the idea of making full time money for part time work. I've been over worked and under paid since forever so I assumed I could work full time and make the kind of money I deserve after all these years of doing what I love and working multiple side jobs to put food on the table.

Listen to the guys in this thread...they are a wealth of knowledge.

The only thing I have to add is this: if you're a BJJ Brown or Black Belt (assuming you are if you've ran your own business at it), then you need to take the same mentality of hard work, patience, and diligence it took for that into this insurance thing. You will take your share of lumps while learning.

I could be wrong, but the only people I've come across in the insurance industry that make full time money for part time work put in hours like a damn dog the first year or two.

I'm not saying some don't make six figures the first or second year, but they tend to go balls to the walls to get it.

It's all coming back to me now , I read a lot of this thread and I didn't have a full blown aneurysm but It did remind me of the headaches. I've been doing more health and Medicare looking to add some leads and lines I'm reminded in this thread that when someone above you controls your leads there is potential for abuse. So when you give your blood money and spend 1000 bucks and get no one to answer and then you find out they've been called through or some other shit it's frustrating. The recruiter that called me was a jackass , you know the guy that writes a million dollars but has the time to call me and help me out . No thank you but that's just me

A guy I went to hs with is in ffl and is doing pretty good
There are soem people doing well with almost every outfit. The question is, "would they being doing better elsewhere?" If a person is a self starter and can "train" himself, then they would probably be better off as an independent. If they need a manager to keep them pumped up and tp explain things to them or need the comradery of working with a group, then FFL might be best. I have known guys that could not make it as an indy that have gone to LH and done very well.

Hes a manager there or what not but I mean the forum pumps about independent but I think that burns alot of perspective people who would in fact "do better elsewhere" as a captive. Regardless of the handholding. Different energies, vibes etc.

I've seen alot on here about contracts. But you can be someplace that has literally half the comission amount but make double the money if its actually an environment that you intuitively link up well with and are really a fit

100% accurate and I've mentioned this on a lot of posts hating on these programs.

Some of these people just want a JOB that makes a lot of money and don't want to run a BUSINESS.

That's ok. If you can empower someone to make 100k a year and they're happy, why hate? Yes, this person could make 200k as an "independent" but that's not for everyone.

Good point @DHurd

The AP is not that far off the mark. If you are spending $1100 a week on leads you can buy 100 of the instant internet life leads. If 20% of the leads are fictitious that leaves you 80 real leads. If half of those people tell you to go eff yourself that leaves you 40 people who actually talk to you. Out of the 40 who you have an actual conversation with maybe 20 of them will book an appointment with you. Out of the 20 appointments you hold, maybe you sell half, so 10 apps. Their agents claim $1000 AP average on these leads when they close them. So, that could be $10K a week? You spend $1100 on leads and turn it into $10K in AP. That's not bad at all.

I don't work there, but I watched a bunch of their videos on Youtube and it seems like anywhere else. The guys that buy enough leads and hold enough appointments make a ton of money. That doesn't seem out of line. Also, I think that their comp starts at 90% to 100% now?

Really though, if any agent was holding 20 life insurance appointments a week he is making money. It doesn't matter where you work. As long as they're not raping you on comp you are making bank with 20 life appointments per week. From what they claim on Youtube the people at FFL who are making HUGE money are running 30-40 appointments per week. Again, any agent with street level comp running 30-40 appointments per week is making a fantastic living.

I would say if you're spending 1100 on leads you damn well better be submitting 10k.

I agree 100%. A lot of people won't spend $1100 on leads and then they cry that there is no way that someone who is spending $1100 on leads is writing $10K a week. Its just a matter of investing in your businesses and scaling up to make more money. Its like any other business that spends money to find customers.
