FE Mailers

I don't know of a successful FE agent that strictly cold calls. One guy in this thread says he does know of some, but he won't/can't say where these phantom agents exist.

So what is wrong with some cross sells? It sounds like that makes JacobTN smarter than the average FE agent, not dumber.

I don't have a dog in this fight either but I will tell you that I cold called for the first 2 years I was Indy I made a fraction of what I make now and when my renewals hit 2k a month I use dm leads and dm leads only I make so much more working leads than cold calling and cold door knocking but I also understand the true value of a lead

That you are only successful if you do it the JD way? Otherwise it doesn't count?

I didn't say that either. In fact, I've said there are many ways to be successful in this business.

But, there are no successful FE agents that strictly cold call from a list. If you want to jump into that discussion, and it seems you do, then tell me about the ones you know of that are successful doing it that way.

The only FE agents I know are on here and it appears the mantra is "buy DM leads" with a small chorus advocating "do your own mailings". So I can't attest to if there are any successful FE agents that cold call. However, Reardon did offer up one, and you immediately dismissed JacobTN because he wasn't successful in your model.

JD, it really doesn't matter what you say, what you do speaks louder. And it is extremely clear, you are dismissive of anyone who doesn't do FE your way. Despite what you may say, you are very disdainful of tele-sales and anyone who doesn't use EFES. I would say the same about LH, SL and Greg, but you are very open of your dislike for them.

You are just not telling the truth here. I didn't say anything about jacob, dismissive or otherwise. And, if I did say something about jacob I would say what I have always said about him, he is a damn fine agent.

Nor have I ever said that EFES is the only way. In fact, I have told many that EFES is not for them.

I don't know whwre you get this stuff, but it does not come from me.

Just reading what you are writing JD. Just reading what you are writing.

I'd prefer you not accusing me of lying. JacobTN was offered up as an example of someone that sells FE, cold calls and is successful. Yet you were dismissive of that because it was mentioned he leads with Med Supps. I wasn't aware an agent had to sell FE and FE alone, or leave the market alone.

Wino is another agent that has some success in FE, but he doesn't work any leads. He just works his book and other orphans he comes across. He rewrites terms, does some ULs, WLs, and SI policies as appropriate. True, he doesn't claim to be an FE agent, but who cares. FE is just life insurance sold on a simplified issue basis and pitched for final expenses.

I do have a dog in this fight.........actually I don't, I just like that saying.

I think one person has lots of experience in final expense and doesn't know a 100K producer that telemarkets as main lead source. They can however point to many 100K direct mail producers.

Another person says it can be done by telemarketing. I think its fair to ask for proof. This type of statement can lead many agents to believe something that may or may not be true.

I do know for LTC some agents tried a system of calling "old leads" and acting as if they sent in a card. It worked ok.

When they tried telemarketing this way, the results were poor.

Bottom line is that "I don't remember sending the card in" should not end the call. Move beyond it and get into more open-ended questions or establish what their situation is.

JD, I have to agree with you. In 8 sentences or less we can resurrect that interest they had a few weeks ago when they 1st mailed the card in. Not true with cold calling....unless they actually mailed a card in a few weeks ago.

In eight sentences or less I can create interest that someone might otherwise not known they had. :goofy:

Why don't we all get back on topic and discuss how to work the lead cards? How to over come the objections?

Instead of stating open ended statements and sentence fragments what about telling the rest of us what exactly you say to overcome the objections:

1. "I never filled the card out?"

2. "I was hoping I would receive something in the mail, I don't want no one coming to my house?"

3. "I already have life insurance."

Lets stop the arguing and add something meaningful to the topic. Remember, there are some of us that read this forum looking for helpful ways to overcome objections and get better at our game.
