First appointment, lady wants to insure herself and her Downs syndrome daughter. Just liquidated her 401K to pay for her sisters funeral. Cant afford her utilities would like to buy next month.

Second appointment, husband and wife interested in FE. After sitting down with them for an hour going over the policies the husband interjects and asks the wife what she has now. So I start digging turns out they have insurance.

Husband (just had surgery for cancer 8 months ago)
50k whole life (pays something close to 60 per month)
5k whole life
Accidental death policy
Later I found out he has significant stock investments

Wife
35k whole life (pays something close to 38 per month)
Accidental death policy
Almost finished paying off her funeral at local funeral home.

Outside the husband tells me he doesn't know why she is always trying to buy more stuff and he just lets her do what she wants.

1st appointment- write it up with Monumental. They can hold off until next month to draft. If she resists, then you know she is just putting you off with no intention to buy next month.

2nd appointment- focus on the wife. Husband already said he "just lets her do what she wants". And you already know she's a buyer. Don't try to replace anything, just pitch some more coverage on her. Ask if she wants her husband as the beneficiary or a child, ask how much coverage while you start filing out an app.

1st appointment I didn't know monumental could hold off longer than 30 days. I will have to use that next time. I'm still in contact with her. Her hot button is the kid. If I can write the kid she's a slam dunk.

2nd appointment the wife wanted to insure the husband and make herself the beneficiary she had no interest in insuring herself. It was like talking to a brick wall the husband qualified for ROP through Am Am and just kept bringing up what they already had, the wife couldn't understand that FE would pay for more than the funeral. When I tried to write her she just kept saying I have my funeral expenses taken care of.

Then, forget about that second couple...can't sell them all.
The first one shouldn't be a problem. Get the daughter insured. GI with Vantis goes down to 50. GI with Kemper goes down to 40. Columbian goes down futher, I believe. If you can't place in any of those, contact Greg. He said Senior Life will do GI for any age. So, refer out the daughter, show the mother that you can do whatever it takes to get anyone covered, then you get her business with whatever carrier you wish to use.
Might even get a referal or 2 with that kind of service.

Really appreciate the response, she is 26. In the other thread he says only in NC but I'll PM him and see.

The mailers went out 19 days ago so I'm hoping more leads will come through. I did them with my IMO for $260/k

Sorry guys. You can't diagnose sales problems over the Internets.

I have been riding around with a self-professed "8-year experienced salesperson" and am disgusted at how terrible he is.

Call your manager now and have him do a ride-along immediately.

PS: A word of advice. The first "sales" question you should ask is why they sent the card in.

Also, I love asking them what would happen if they don't do anything. If there is no concern, they aren't propects.

FWIW. Not sure it would work in this case but, they go down to age 25, in CA.

I wonder what will make her utilities more affordable next month? A tax refund?
