Final Expense Leads!

You are correct. Though talk to NFL, or go read his old posts, I know he has revealed a few MI honey holes in the past. I think you have to beat a 1.5% to beat a set price program anyway.

Yeah that’s what I came up. Even though 1.5% is realistic, I still prefer fixed lead cost. I feel like I’m in a little more control of my business.

I have never worked in Detroit. I do know a guy who worked there for 4 or 5 years and never went more than 25 minutes from home.

I rarely work after dark anywhere I go. I find too many times in Saginaw and Flint where the GPS is often wrong and many times the house is on the wrong side of the street. You pull into the wrong driveway in a black stretch BMW after dark, when their is a drug deal going on you could get shot.

Yeah, I never pull into driveways in those neighborhoods for that specific reason. Also, if there is anyone ever outside I always wave and indirectly tell them why I’m
Here. Something like “I have an appt with ms. Jackson regarding her life insurance, do you know if she is here?”

Ppl in the hood respect life insurance agents . After 8 though, seems like that’s when the real trouble starts!

I’ve always said the Shurance man gets a pass in the ghetto. But Indianapolis ain’t Detroit either.

I got jumped at 4:30 in the afternoon! These guys can cause trouble any time of day. I learned from that to be more aware of my surroundings, and other signs of potential trouble. But I agree, the later it gets, the more likelihood for problems. Also, any trouble I've ever had seemed to be on Friday afternoon. So I try to avoid southside Dallas on Friday.

BTW, our new Dallas police chief was recruited from Detroit. I wonder if that's a good thing.

I’d say so. My guess is that Detroit is worse to work than Dallas although Dallas has its spots. I’ve worked in many sketchy areas during my tenure, Chicago inner city ghettos being the worst. Houston has its moments too.

Daytime hours, keep to yourself and then cross your fingers ;)

As a rule, you are correct.. But a few years ago here in Philly, a cash collecting debit agent was robbed and murdered. He was targeted by kids who lived in one of his customer's houses and knew he had a nice wad on him from doing his rounds.

A friend of mine that just retired from his American National debit in South Dallas started his career working inner city Chicago for many years. He says Chicago was MUCH worse than Dallas ever thought about being. He had a few clients in the public housing apartment buildings, such as the infamous Cabrini Green project. Says he would pay a kid $5 to sit in his car while he was in the building so it wouldn't get stripped.

I imagine Detroit's something like that, especially after seeing Robocop!

Yeah that sounds about right!

I’ll never forget I was training a guy in Huntsville Alabama and I got pulled over by a cop. I had rented a car and they gave me a jet black Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows. So I am assuming they pulled me over because of the car as I had not done anything wrong. I was actually training an Agent from Dallas Texas at the time and the cops pulled us out of the car and asked us what we were doing and why we were leaving the particular neighborhood we were in. I let them know that we were insurance salesmen helping people with their insurance. The cops both looked at each other and then looked at us and asked “if we realized how bad of an area we were in and that we shouldn’t ever return to that area for our own safety”. I laughed and said that area was a country club compared to what I used to work in Chicago. Needless to say we went back into the area and made some sales for the day. The Dallas Agent I was training that day used to work in and around Oak Cliff.

His wife took over his book of business and I still come across it on occasion in North Philly. I’m sure there are some replacements in it but I refuse to touch it once I see who's it is.
