A decade ago it would cost 375 to mail a thousand peices and you could get 2% return back conservatively. Today it’s 475 with returns as low as half a %.

Fixed mailer cost was the solution to this problem and it works because these companies can choose how much to mail out to get the amount of leads you are looking for. The cost on fixed mailers have gone up and there are many areas in the country that mailer companies refuse to mail in or will charge an arm and a leg per lead.

Mailers are working right now and every agent should be using it because my guess is in 5 to 10 years if they are still around the price will be Much more than it is today.

Even with our final expense customers, internet marketing is going to take over at some point and mailers will die off. Just my opinion.

Bottom line use mailers while they still work!!!

If I go into Detroit, 2% is realistic. Only problem is you deal with a ton of direct express business and I don’t like working in Detroit past 8:00pm.

I’m the suburbs I can pull a 1% to 1.5% and can close more sales off of that. If I want to work the suburbs fixed cost gives me a better roi.

You are correct. Though talk to NFL, or go read his old posts, I know he has revealed a few MI honey holes in the past. I think you have to beat a 1.5% to beat a set price program anyway.

I have never worked in Detroit. I do know a guy who worked there for 4 or 5 years and never went more than 25 minutes from home.

I rarely work after dark anywhere I go. I find too many times in Saginaw and Flint where the GPS is often wrong and many times the house is on the wrong side of the street. You pull into the wrong driveway in a black stretch BMW after dark, when their is a drug deal going on you could get shot.
