For those of You Who've Warned Me/spoken Disparagingly About LH,

Not very familiar with Senior Life but do know agent that worked tv leads and said they were sub par with them. Also I looked at their contract and trashed it. I do not like to have my leads taken out of my commissions. I have worked my own book of business for prospects and referrals and have made a good living you close almost all referred leads. You don't have to have lead costs deducted from your comm. But most agents appreciate this friendly help.

You can pre-pay for your leads with a credit card. Or, you can write biz off your own leads/referrals and never order leads.

No one Co./Agency/Mgr. is a perfect fit for every agent. (Some agents prefer TV leads vs DM leads vs cold calling phone vs cold calling door knocking vs etc., etc.).

TV leads have the worst % in business that actually sticks. It is sub par business. I worked TV leads with LH and had a much better experience with DM leads. At the cost involved with TV leads and the quality of the prospect makes them not worth the investment, (unless things have changed since I worked them year 2000...doubt it).

I work DM's, telemarketing, and some internet leads. I will be doing my first mail drop in Jan for the area I am in and I don't see any IMO, FMO that offers TV leads as a source.
 
I don't have a dog in this fight but if the comments on TV leads is accurate, why does Colonial Penn still do TV ads if that system doesn't work?

Aren't they selling direct and not using agents? LH tries to sell them direct as well.

I know when I used TV leads I hated them. They seem on the surface like they would be great. A person with interest called in and gave their info. All of the agents in my manager's downline hated them. He even said they weren't good except that you did get a higher premium from the ones you did sell.

I don't know if that was true or not. I didn't track it. I did find later that he was working the DM leads himself and then sending out the ones he didn't sell as new leads so he may have been working the TV leads first too?

CP has there own in house agents for phone sales only. The cost structure is much different then its going to be for any IMO, FMO. I would think any FMO, IMO has looked into the high costs involved and would not make it up with volume or would have to go captive and controlling agents, cost, etc...

It is strange to think that a person calls in and leaves their info and is interested in insurance....But with the colonial Penn ads they post the cost on there and I assume the person calling in has already figured out how much they want to spend its only $x per unit (too bad they don't know what a unit is).

I find that people are very mislead about the cost of the CP insurance. They price it in "units". The average person has no idea what that is until they call and then they get sticker shock. I don't run in to too many people that have bought the CP. I do run into a lot of people that have called in and priced it.
