Former WFG Agent - Should I retire?

but a lot of people did and do
There is a big difference between "did" and "do". "Did" implies in the past. And like most new products, the initial pop is seldom duplicated 10-30 years down the road. I welcome anybody to try and market a Frisbee or Pet Rock today by suggesting every home wants and needs one, and "Joe the Plumber" made $3M a year (but failing to mention that was in the late 60's).

Recruiting isn't alwys required. Reps can advance from personal production depending on the company guidelines.

Also depending on the company a new and experienced agent doesn't have to start at the lower commission levels.
MLMs make a point of saying everybody starts at the beginning and has an equal opportunity. In fact, its one of their mantras. Its never mentioned that top earner "X" was actually recruited from mainstream insurance company "Y", and flipped a sizeable portion of his book over. They also never mention that Superstar "A" was actually a Baptist Minister with a large congregation on which he preyed, using his position of trust.

Of course the bigs have other streams of income. The more money a person has the more opportunities that come their way. Once they can they invest. At least some do.

All great things start with a dream.

a top earner in a financial MLM with 1500 downline was making over a million a year..
1500 downlines won't make you rich. But being promoted company wide as a messiah and having your dvd collection for sale on a corporate site , or travelling the country hosting Power Builder Weekend Summits will. Theres a reason why the incomes generated is always described as "cash flows" or "revenues" rather than as "commissions". It allows the revenues generated from ALL sources to be included. Human nature being what it is, the selling force assumes its strictly from sales and overrides. Plausible deniability!

The business world isn't always perfect. If someone is bringing in a team why not give them an extra consideration?

Here's a secret. He who owns the business makes the rules. Of course there should be so fairness but business is business.

"The problem that the insurance MLMs have, is that their contracts start new people off at (generally) 25%. The upline keeps the 100%+ difference (and what value to THEY bring for that compensation?)... but the new rep only gets 25%. How do they get a higher %? They have to recruit (and I'm sure a few other things)."

The value they bring is training that person. If the new person gets licensed fast, they can be A S

So you think that every single client that an agent affiliated with WFG has been only through recruiting? You think that an agent can't sell policies to an individual who only wants insurance?
I never said "every", but 3 out of 10 still puts you on shaky ground.

I agree, however by not mentioning that little detail to those joining, or worse, implying their income is totally derived from selling a product, either personally or from overrides, it sends a fraudulent message. Furthermore, those events are almost exclusively attended by downlines, which makes them clients of the big hitters.

I have no problem with the fact it happens, however, it should be made public knowledge to new recruits prior to joining, otherwise it is misleading.

Toolbelt not everyone has a desire to be rich or wealthy. Yes even in the MLM financial world it is tough to make the big incomes especially with building a team.

Most people don't make it because it's so tough. See a presentation and then do a net search and people see all the negativity and then doubt steps in.

Then 5, 10, 15 or whatever years later comes I should have at least tried.

Just from personal experience I know what Hubert did at A.L Williams..I know what he did at WFG. I know what he is capable this go around.

When ALW/PFS went public many made some good money. When Hubert sold WFG many made money. This is his last go around and of course there are no guarantees or assumptions but right now as you say it can't be done there are people making money.

So keep saying scam, sham or whatever but his system has worked and is working. If anyone at any organization are selling CD' s and such I say so what. Buying anything is an option..

If not then it's who moved my cheese..
