On ABC World News tonight they posted some interesting statistics. For one, only 20% of voters claimed to be Republicans. Wow, I would guess that 2% of those Republicans are right wing neocons----most of them are members of this forum.
Another statistic indicated that most prople are against Obama's health reform movement-----BUT 57% would like a Public Option. Go figure.
This harkens back to my previous point.
People are completely disconnected with this.
They do not see this in its totality. As with most things and most people they see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe.
"Public" option to them means free.
"Govt." option means expensive and inefficient. If they have ever dealt with the govt.
"We want "free" (no ins. premiums) but we don't want expensive (taxation)."
Visionaries, all of them.
Went on Youtube last eve. And typed in healthcare reform just to try and get a "man on the street" take on this.
Maybe it's geared toward younger people but … wow. The videos that are on there …
The analogies kill me. One likens the public / private option to a govt. / commercial run airline, another to a govt. / private run restaurant.
I suppose they have to simplify things to get the points across but, wow …
