Eliminating insurance companies does several things.

Lot's of folks out of work that currently serve that market.

If run at the state level without federal dollars paid by taxpayers in the other 56 states, that means a major increase in taxes in MD.

When that happens, mass exodus to neighboring states where taxes are lower.

And let's not overlook the loss of premium tax revenue which now goes into the general fund. Oops! That means even higher taxes and even more migration to neighboring states.
