Health Sherpa 2016 Open Enrollment

Great question about NPN insertion.

Noticed amount of income disclosed on HC.gov doesn't get pulled back over either

Now yall got me wondering if the re-direct takes the applicant to HealthCare.gov, where they'll need to enter our CMS password under our already filled-in FFM Username. If so, there's no way applicants can enroll on their own. We're supposed to protect our CMS password till our last breath.

I have some experience with client-facing double-redirect from last year's open enrollment with one of the carriers here in Oregon. Basically, the double-redirect from a client-facing standpoint is the same as if they just went straight to HC.gov, except it kicks back to the carrier site at the end for finalizing plan selection.

The client still has to complete the steps of creating an account on HC.gov, including identity verification. The WBE/Carrier can still associate an agent's NPN at the point that the plan selection is transmitted, since this happens after the client comes back from HC.gov. The problem with this, however, is that that form of NPN association is the one that is automatically stripped ANY time a change is made after that point.

The only other way to associate an agent with a case in this method is for the client to enter the agent's NPN as they fill out the application. And we all know that isn't going to happen without babysitting from us.

Well, I used my assigned HealthSherpa client-facing-site to enter an application today. After clicking on "Choose Plan" and then clicking on the "Go to Healthcare.gov" button, it re-directed me to the Broker Login page. My FFM ID was already present. I then entered my CMS portal Password and proceeded to enter her enrollment application.

Is this what everyone else is seeing on the front-end when enrolling an applicant? If so it won't be possible for shoppers to enroll themselves.

Mine did not prompt my CMS login... I might try to use it thought, thanks for the info.

The Sherpa app that I just did directed us to hc.gov, and required my CMS password. It required me to type in my agent information including NPN number. Clearly this won't work for the unassisted app model, including anyone sending links to clients. I do broker assisted apps, so Sherpa is still of value. For me, it helps to:

1. Avoid the account creation, email confirmation, identity proofing steps
2. Keeps all of my ON exchange clients in one dashboard
3. Makes me NOT change systems mid-OEP.

However, it's not much better than just using healthcare.gov directly.

And, it makes using ACAExpress a much better option. The only reason I haven't done that yet in OEP is simply because I didn't want to learn a new system and have clients in 2 different dashboards. However, ACAExpress is a great system, and avoids many of these extra steps in the process.

I guess that carrier's must be doing this different, this is my third year of the re direct and when going through the carrier have never I say never had to set them up an account, we use my id and pw.

If CMS is forcing changes upon Web Brokers, it's only a matter of time before ACAExpress gets their notification. I bet Kenny has planned for that day, and will also be ready to revert back to his present enrollment model when the new 2017 CMS rules are implemented. Crazy isn't it?

Now I'm magically locked out of hc.gov - was asked to reset my password but never got the email to do so when I requested a password reset? This is so fun.

Hello BD. I don't think anyone has reported that the applicant must set up a HC.gov or Sherpa account in order to enroll.

But unlike your local carriers, our BCBS-IL and LOL requires the applicant to set up an account with them, before being handed off to HC.gov...where they must set up a Marketplace account too. WBE's relieve IL agents from that torture.

What Ann and I are saying is that Health Sherpa re-directs us to Healthcare.gov's broker portal, where we're required us to enter our CMS Password in order to start the enrollment application.

If an applicant clicks on the Health Sherpa quote link we send, and starts the application, they must enter our CMS Password in order to start the enrollment application. That is NOT GOOD. Hopefully, it's just a mistake. I'll e-mail HealthSherpa about it later, if there's no response in this thread by the end of the day.
