Healthcare Bill Exemption

You are absolutely right it is not insurance but it is an insurance alternative.

WRONG!

Several insurance commissioners have held just the opposite, and therein lies the problem for your little gimmick plans.

Commissioners have determined that these plans ARE insurance and such must be licensed.

Next think you'll want to argue is that Obamacare trumps state insurance commissioner opinions.
:1arghh:

Thank you, These types of healthcare programs are perfect for an individual or family that seeks an alternative to traditional insurance. As I've said before, the top three sharing ministries Samaritan ministries, Christian care ministries, and Christian healthcare ministries are a great alternative for people of faith. The exemption part of the bill was done by the senate after some great lobbying. To not give these programs merit is a bit naïve.

These Health Care sharing ministries have won at the highest courts in the land and I'm sure that the Kentucky decision that was split will be overturned as well. These small battles have been going on for some time, and these sharing concepts have won at the highest courts in the land. I saw earlier that someone commented on the Oklahoma decision as if it were something negative. If you were to look further you would see that the Oklahoma decision was reversed in the favor of these sharing ministries.

After further research we have even found that as far as the better business bureau goes, nationally the Christian sharing ministry Medi-Share has an A rating. So how one person could call this a gimmick is far beyond me and so many others. These are concepts that are working and they do have thousands of members . I find the concept on sharing with each other's burdens quite American and if we look deep into our past we see on how that concept does in fact work.

These Health Care concepts should not be downed for what they're doing, they should be encouraged and maybe we could all learn just a little bit more to not only make ourselves a better people but our country a better place to live. There are bad apples in every basket and once weeded out, what remains is good. There have been some bad apples through the years when it comes to these sorts of Health Care sharing ministries, but for the most part they have been weeded out.

As soon as someone uses "Christian" as a way to sell insurance, I know they are going to hell and not stopping to pass go.

I'm an atheist and certainly a better christian than most.

Vague.

Please provide case names, including relevant citations and case histories. I'm a lawyer. I can look 'em up. Just give me a head-start; something more than vague unsupported conclusory statements.

June: Following an order in February from Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland that Medi-Share must stop operating, the state Legislature drew up a bill that the company said would allow it to resume operations pending some changes to its financial arrangements. Gov. Brad Henry signed the bill into law.

May: Florida Gov. Charlie Crist signed into law "Cover Florida" legislation, allowing health insurers to offer "bare-bones" policies, and exempting bill-sharing ministries from regulation as health plans. Also, the Nevada insurance commissioner determined that state regulators did not have sufficient evidence to shut down Medi-Share as an unregulated insurer.

From what I see the battle continues in Montana and Ill. The US Supreme Court has also went to taken the side of these programs. It is interesting that they have had such success and even were able to get this exemption in to law, Not to shabby.

And why is it with all the money and Lawyers the Insurance industry has, they simply can not shut them down. They apparently are doing something right. This makes great news, and the more we uncover this alternative we find just how stable a foundation they have. And why all the bitterness? I for one applaud them and wish them well.TIME magazine just did a great article on them as well.

IMHO it is vitally important to have freedom of religion, but it is just as imortant to have freedom from religion.

Zaint, a lawyer needs case law citations. Not prose.
